Sega Saturn Modchip problem

Post by Jmastab »

Hey Everyone I just got my modchip today and when my Dad and I were installing the chip we seemed to have some problems :( . When I booted up the console the disc won't spin and won't play the opening intro. It shows the boot screen and then the menu and you hear a loud hissing noise. When I took out the chip it works fine and I could still play my retail saturn games fine. I have a model 2 Saturn NTSC, I bought from Racketboy, and when installing I used the A+B method.

Yeah I tried some of these methods this morning I get all the signs of the ribbon cable isn't properly inserted (No boot animation, Two Large spheres, no cd rotation and the checking disc format) The ribbon cables are plugged in all the way and I'm just starting to think the mod chip isn't working. The model Saturn I have is the Model 2 64 Pin.

I'm only suggesting this because I made the mistake myself when I first installed my chip. Make sure that the ribbon cable is inserted the right way. Meaning, it could be upside-down and therefore not making contact with the chip. This sometimes means that the ribbon will have to twist (that's what had confused me) in order to connect to the console.

Hopefully it's as simple as that. Good luck to you.

Hey dude it worked :D When I went to work on it today I realized the blue stripe on the ribbon cable needed to be up and plugged in a different way. Thank You everyone for your help. :)
