System works great, fired up first try. Joysticks feel nice and dont have the cracking on the ball top that I have heard about. The box doesnt seem to be complete, just having one large piece of Styrofoam to hold the console and one controller, with a large void that fits the game and 2nd stick.
The game he had was League Bowling, not the greatest game to have my first Neo-Geo Experience on, but its nice to see it works fine.
Now I am sure at least a couple of you are curious as to my total cost, well I ended up trading a Modded Wii with an external harddrive, which only cost me $80 bucks total.

Thats around what I thought, I heard back from the seller and it will have 2 controllers actually. He hasnt mentioned if he has any games yet, but if we work out a deal it will only be about an $80 dollar investment to make the deal happen.
I would love to get one of these, I know the games can be ungodly expensive, but I have wanted one for a while now.
Well I finally heard back and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it is complete in BOX! With 2 controllers. Still unsure about any games but it looks to be in like new condition. We should be making a deal this weekend!
$80 in box is a good deal. VERY unlikely to find that sort of price outside of Japan (definitely possible in Japan, though). Is it a Japanese AES or a US AES? All Neo Geos are region free*, but, as has been said, the US AES is worth more.
As for thinking games are expensive, that is a bit of a myth. A lot of the more common games, especially Japanese versions, are very affordable. Games like early KoF games, Samurai Shodown/Spirits 1/2, early Fatal Fury games, World Heroes games, NAM, some sports games, Magician Lord, a couple shooters even, etc., can all be found in the $20-50 range CIB. You can build a nice little AES collection for a very reasonable price. Just stay away from the more recent high profile games (ie. Metal Slugs, later KoF games, later Fatal Fury games, some shooters, etc. That is what would break your bank. If you want those games, get them on the Neo Geo CD, MVS or non-SNK consoles.
*games default to the region mode of the system they are played on. For example, US games on a Japanese AES will default to Japanese language. Games like Samurai Shodown/Spirits will display red blood on a Japanese system, but other coloured "blood" on a US system. A lot of games have a language setting, so don't worry about language too much. Neo Geo games are pretty unique like that (some Genesis/MD games also do this!!!).

2 sticks and an original box JPN: ~$280-300 (that would be a jpn system with an extra stick thrown in. That's with a box in decent shape)
2 sticks and an original box US (gold system): ~$325- sky's the limit. The pack-in game choices (mag lord, nam 75, baseball stars) are all relatively cheap to get if he doesn't include one.
If the US gold system box were in MINT condition with the original manual, I'd value it at slightly under $500. But if the box has ANY wear, you're in the $325 arena.
But it's only as valuable as some crazy neo fan is willing to pay for it

Regardless of the region now, assuming this works and you have recourse if it doesn't - it's a must buy.

Show those numbers to the guys on the Neo Geo forums and you will get laughed at sir, prices have been going up on all AES systems and games lately due to growing interest and slim pickings
My copy of Garou MOTW was $500, and I purchased the Japanese version in an auction setting not a private sale
