I get very excited for new console/handheld releases. I guess I'm just a sucker for new toys to buy.
However, this console generation has lasted far longer than typical for the industry. I mean we usually expect the typical 5-6 years lifespan and the 360 has officially hit 6 years. I'd say that is very respectful and if we end up with a new Xbox next year then that is pretty decent for owners since 2005.
$399 for a 7 year investment (if the console managed to survive that long) is not bad at all.
Keep in mind, a $400 PC in 2005 would NOT be able to handle anything that is being put on the Xbox 360/PS3 today.

Yeah I am ready for the next generation because I to love getting new toys to play with but if it could last another year or 2 that would be nice I could see Xbox and Nintendo needing upgrades but not Playstation of a while
