Has anyone ever used a rental site like Zilok.com or Rentalic.com for renting/borrowing items? I'm thinking about putting up some of my gaming systems to rent out for an affordable daily fee and am curious on other users feedback. I figure maybe someone would want to rent my Super famicom box, FDS, twin fami, and other systems that are gathering dust at any given time at my house.
Another question is, would you as a gamer ever consider renting a system for a nominal fee (between $5-$10 a day, pending on the system).

Concerning retro gaming systems, nah,m they are so cheap that renting isn't worth it, you could just buy it.

I wouldn't trust people to take care of my stuff. I used to work at a place that rented DVDs and a large number of people couldn't keep the discs in good condition if their life depended on it.

This, I think we tend to forget that us collectors are a particular bunch, we are certainly not the norm.Hobie-wan wrote:I wouldn't trust people to take care of my stuff. Walk into any average American home. You'll see loose DVDs/games on the floor scratched to shit, etc. My brother is like this, he doesn't care about things once they become "obsolete". Last time I was at my parents' house I looked behind a coach: found Final Fantasy VII disc one only loose, Star Ocean: The Second Story (in a case but in horrific condition), and a pretty beat up Metal Gear Solid. He also lost/misplaced Lunar I & II somewhere throughout the last couple years. The only thing that matters to him is the most up-to-date current gen stuff. Shit like that drives me nuts.
I wouldn't trust anyone else with my stuff.

I remember Blockbuster doing this back in the day. I did it once, but the guy at the register forgot to mention that there's a $200 deposit taken from my account, which overdrew my account. When I found this out I went back to Blockbuster and told them to take it off and that I was never informed. And they pretty much said I was lying to them. Oh man, I got pissed. I usually keep my cool, but I freaking blew up. Then they took it off.

No freeken way would I rent out anything! For an idea how badly your console and games would get mangled, just look at all the used games at any Gamestop. Guess why most have generic covers.skere26 wrote:I'm thinking about putting up some of my gaming systems to rent out for an affordable daily fee and am curious on other users feedback.
