Wii Sensor Bar: above or below? use the stand?

Post by Zing »

This is not a true poll, just wondering if anyone else has tinkered with their Wii Sensor Bar placement.

I am setting up a new 46" TV and I initially put the bar on the top. This works as fine as I remember, however, I notice that everyone has to point a little higher than they want when controlling the pointer. Anytime someone sits down to play, the first thing that happens is the "where is the pointer game" as they point at the screen, but the pointer doesn't appear. They have to aim slightly up.

I tried putting it under, and then the reverse seems to be true. People have to point slightly down. I tried using the stand, and it seems a little better.

I am thinking I will put it under, because this allows people to rest their arms lower when controlling instead of having to raise their arm all the time. With the bar under the TV, I can comfortably control the pointer even if my arm is resting on the couch cushion. With the bar over the TV, I have to lift my arm up a bit.

Now, I have to test all these positions while standing. 8)

You know you change the setting in the Wii Settings menu right? It makes the adjustment for top or bottom so the actual wiimote position is the same.

I do my Wii gaming on my HD Wega. It's elevated about 2.5 feet from ground to base of TV. I've always had much more accurate tracking with the bar sitting below the TV.

And what Iwcook said ^

I was thinking the same thing.

I have my sensor bar above my 32" LCD. I used the adhesive pads, and not the stand. Never had a problem with it, so it's staying there as long as I have this TV.

I used to attach the sensor bar the the top of our 32" LCD with sticky tack. Then I got married and it had to go on the bottom.

My Kinect is above because it requires a larger distance. My PS Eye and Wii sensor are below because I can't put all 3 up top. Well, I COULD, but....

This thing. So wretched.

My TV is mounted about 4 ft off the ground on the wall so I attached the sensor bar to the bottom using velcro strips for a nice, clean look.
