What shmup are you playing now?
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Beat Thunder Force VI (on normal), wasn't too hard actually. Not Technosoft's easiest shmup (Blast Wind is so pathetically easy...) but one of the easier ones. Pretty much in shmup mode now so I think I'm gonna play some, uh... I'm not entirely sure. I just ordered DoDonPachi Resurrection but I'm feeling like playing something now. I've yet to clear Ikaruga or Radiant Silvergun so perhaps I'll give one of those a stab.

@exedexes: Actually, I would just have Batrider in it for quite a while. I'll most likely use the 2 crts for horiz, and keep the cab in TATE.
I love all shmups, but verts are my fav
Raiden Fighters is nuts

Vertical is the classic type by far, can't call them Shoot Em Right or Left nowdunpeal2064 wrote:@exedexes: Actually, I would just have Batrider in it for quite a while. I'll most likely use the 2 crts for horiz, and keep the cab in TATE.

But there are many classics (such as Darius and Gradius) that are great horizontally too!

Ikaruga is one I see tossed around as a great Dreamcast import. Heck, even the DC was staying alive because of Japanese companies releasing shmups long after other companies stopped making games!brunoafh wrote:Beat Thunder Force VI (on normal), wasn't too hard actually. Yep, it's pure greatness. Pretty difficulty though. If you haven't played it before definitely put it on your to-do list.ExedExes wrote:Ikaruga is one I see tossed around as a great Dreamcast import. I sure will, if the prices for the DC import on Ebay ever get reasonable enoughbrunoafh wrote:Yep, it's pure greatness. Pretty difficulty though. Its also available on the Gamecube and XBLA.
There is one difference in the xbla port, but nothing that breaks the game. That st3 wheel spins in the other direction, which will be a surprise to anyone that is used to the original.

I recently saw the DC version for $60 +shipping if your interested, but there's nothing wrong with the 360 or GC versions either.ExedExes wrote:I sure will, if the prices for the DC import on Ebay ever get reasonable enoughbrunoafh wrote:Yep, it's pure greatness. Just one problem -- I'm sooooo retro I don't have a 360 or GC! My Ebay search was $85 and upt0yrobo wrote:I recently saw the DC version for $60 +shipping if your interested, but there's nothing wrong with the 360 or GC versions either.

You can find a better price on Ikaruga if you look for the right deal, but rancor (http://www.sk8tokyo.com/shmup/) has it for $60 + shipping from Japan.
