What's With All the Acronyms?! Rant

I don't like acronyms because there seems to be no consistency about whether to use periods or not. When I abbreviate Final Fantasy should I use F.F. or FF?

Not at all game related, but what always irritated me was how so many 1980s hardcore punk bands had names that were acronyms: SSD, DYS, F.U.'s, D.R.I., MDC, GBH, JFA, SOB, etc...

I never use periods for anything game related.
