Question to the Married or Long-Term Relationship People

My girlfriend doesn't care that I game, but she sometimes gets all high and mighty and talks about how I should just save all my money - where's the fun in that? She also thinks that emulating games is the same thing, making collecting pointless.

Though, lately she's been splurging a bit herself on her own things, so she's been quiet...hehe...

haha same issue here,When I worked for Journeys I had a fetish for funky Hi top Nikes buying two pairs a week with matching outfits...Before I went back to old school gaming I had a 20-30 xbox360 games and my wife went banannas on me.Then It got worse (bout 2years ago) a buddy gave me a copy of FFVII and Xenogears and I went ape shit since then and now my wife dosent say much cause she now realizes it keeps me out of trouble and I have everything organized and clean.

Plus shes starting to become a casual gamer herself with games such as bejeweled,Donkey Konga and watching me play Catherine (What women wouldnt).But yea most non gamer partners can be a lil hassle.

To be honest, I'm glad I married someone without the disease. Less hogging of TVs and the computer. The contention comes with us having children in the future. If she has her way, the kiddos will be forbidden from playtime exceeding 30 minutes a week. I can see where she's coming from - gaming is useless, but that's not the point!

I actually do not have that problem. In fact, my wife is pretty laid back about the decisions I make when it comes to that. She does try to discourage me from selling or trading in any games but usually just lets me do what I want. She has the same mentality with buying.

Though i've managed to squeeze it to 2-3 school nights a week, for up to an hour, and Friday Night / Saturday Day is a bit longer.

We do TRY to avoid mindless or grotesquely violent stuff for sure - lots of puzzle games, or thinking adventure games, or even games that at least they're moving around.

There are much worse things kids could be doing.

Oh...and if I had to point, it would also be to her Quilting room - which puts my video game area to shame.

I'm a lifelong gamer and collector so the wife knew what she was getting into. It took her being pregnant and having to sit at home to get her into gaming. Now we have to trade off on Skyrim and everything.... My problem like the other married guys is that she thinks that I can just get rid of stuff I don't play anymore. Then I made the mistake of telling her, "I can't get rid of that stuff. It's collectible and a bunch of it is worth a lot of money..." Thankfully she hasn't ventured into the room with dollar signs in her eyes. I suppose that'll happen when I die....
