The Legend of Zelda Games N64 and Beyond
Re: The Legend of Zelda Games N64 and Beyond
Yeah, it's not bad. I've never beaten it, and I haven't replayed MM since then, so I might replace WW with MM, but OoT is all right. Just grossly undeserving the title "best video game ever", much less "best N64 game ever" (which actually belongs to Ogre Battle 64 ;P).

No game could possibly live up to the hype that OOT has gotten since it launched. It's incredibly silly to expect any game to live up to hype like that. Same thing with the more recent hype thanks to the big cult followings of Majora's Mask and Wind Waker. None of these are the "greatest game ever", and honestly I can't think of a single game that would be deserving of such a title.
Ignore hype and fanbases, judge things based on their own merits.

I was almost hit by a car once but a copy of Ocarina of Time pushed me out of the way.

I once had terminal cancer, but when a copy of OoT touched the organ, I was cured.neilencio wrote:I was almost hit by a car once but a copy of Ocarina of Time pushed me out of the way.

BurningDoom, play 3D Dot Game Heroes, it's exactly what you're looking for. None of the 3D games are going to scratch your itch.

Breetai, Breetai, Breetai... You disappoint me, man! I thought it was already established that this was, in fact, the greatest game ever?Breetai wrote:

I ADORE 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's honestly the closest a console game has come to LttP since... well LttP. I think Wind Waker does a great job, but I feel like you'd actually enjoy 3D Dot Game even more, since it's a lot closer to the overhead style of LttP. And if you're a fan of retro RPG's in general, you're going to constantly be like "OMG! That's from (such and such a game)! Awesome!"
