Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Who's playing?

Spoilers
Who else picked this up? I got it up two days ago and have been having a blast playing it. It's absolutely everything I would want it to be. I had a lot of fun playing Epic Yarn, but I think this one blows Epic Yarn out of the water.

I actually just completed the game tonight. I played through the entire game 2-player with my brother. On that note, I LOVE the mini games, especially the Ninja Dojo. We spent hours playing Ninja Dojo alone. I wish there were more mini games.

The game definitely gave me a few surprises, as far as the amount of levels go. I knew there were 5 worlds (one for each point of the star) and it's easy to figure out that there will be a 6th world, but I didn't know there would be a 7th. And that shoot 'em up level at the end was a nice surprise, too.

I love the graphics. Maybe not the best we've seen on the Wii, but everything looked really nice. Especially the backgrounds. Some of the backgrounds caused me to be killed, because I was looking at them too long instead of controlling my character. The music was great as well. Some classic Kirby tunes in there, as well as all the original sound effects and whatnot (which really makes it in my book). Some of the original music is pretty good too.

The only complaint I've read about with this game is that it's too easy. I was thinking the same thing through the majority of the game. But as easy as it was, I was still having fun playing it, so I don't see that as a problem. Toward the end of the game, I thought it got a little harder. Especially those black and white areas. But when you beat the game, it unlocks hard mode (as well as a boss rush mode, sound test, and maybe other things I don't remember). As far as I can tell, the new adventure mode is identical but with added difficulty. I think your health bar is half. I noticed the stars look different, but they count the same as far as I can tell. I haven't noticed anything else different in the hard mode though. Anyways, any critic that complained it's too easy obviously didn't beat the game and get the harder difficultly they were wanting.

To me, it really feels like Kirby's Adventure on the NES. You get almost all the classic abilities, plus the new super abilities (what ever they're called) which is pretty fun. It has the mini games, only they make for really great multiplayer fun. I could kill hours and hours playing Ninja Dojo. I've only played 2 or 3 of the challenge levels (because they're only single player - I've been playing with my brother) but there seems to be a few of those to mess around with. It has great replay value because each level contains gears that unlocks stuff (like the challenge levels) as well as all the other stuff I already mentioned.
So all in all, I think this is a great game. I love it. A great addition to the awesome 2D (or 2.5D) side scrollers we got this generation.

So who else is playing? No one? If you haven't played this game yet, and if you like Kirby's Adventure on the NES (or I guess other games in the series) then this is a must play. If you like Epic Yarn, this is a must play.

We're in the third set of opening levels - getting all the gears of course.

Really fun and great with co-op.

I bought it and never played it. (>_<)

I brought my Wii and 4 controllers to play this game with family at a recent gathering, but they all wanted to watch American football instead. (>_<)

I got it the day it came out. It's a damn good game! I love how absurd and simple the story line is.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Got it on release day and have been playing it with a partner as King Dedede. I like it a little more than Epic Yarn. This one feels more solid to me, more like a fully realized video game. I really like the background paralaxing and the music is impeccable. I like the many powers. I like that the black and white levels are relatively tough, and not all the gears are instant-finds. I don't particularly care for the mega-power, screen-clearing actions. I'd probably give this a 9 and Epic Yarn an 8.5.

edit,

eh, I think Epic Yarn is a 9 and this is a 9.5 maybe. Or what I said first. One of those two.

My kids have been playing it and they love it. I played it briefly and found it too easy so I dropped it.

Are there any harder Kirby games? Something on the level of New Super Mario Bros Wii?

Return to Dreamland does get harder after the first boss rush when you open the second series of levels. You should try again there if your kids have unlocked that area yet.

In general, Kirby games have always been viewed as the easier alternative to Mario games. Kirby's Adventure (NES) does have a few tough spots, though.

All the Kirby games are pretty easy.

Hardest one I can think of is maybe Kirby's Adventure, and even that one isn't difficult.

Does anyone else find that Kirby's Adventure on NES is harder than its GBA remake?
