Question to the Married or Long-Term Relationship People
Re: Question to the Married or Long-Term Relationship People
My girlfriend has seen my buying and trading compulsion in great detail. She knows to not buy me games. I've said, 'you know it would probably be safest not to buy me any games, right?" She knew already. She has instead bought me Nintendo points cards. Cool!

Does she have a sister?brunoafh wrote:My gf honestly doesn't care what I do, ever (so long as it's not offensive to her or anything). It's awesome.

My girlfriend thinks I have way too many games and probably wouldn't care too much if I got rid of a few.
That being said, she would be pissed off and I believe she has every right to be, if I were to trade, sell, or get rid of anything she got me, video game related or not. A gift is a gift, I wouldn't feel right getting rid of something like that.
Besides, I never get rid of any of my games. I have probably 400+ games and I have only gotten rid of one in my entire life. That was a shitty game that I gave to my cousin because he didn't have any for his Super Nintendo. (Doomsday Warrior)

My gut is she's probably more upset about being vernacularly espoused in the same vein as say, the lawn, or the groceries, as opposed to being concerned about what you do with your video games.stickem wrote:the wife bitches about buying too many games.
no she probably just don't understand why have about 14 systems and buying all these games i'll never play just to collect. and she has a point in a way. but i think video games in general have become a part of me that has developed into a lifelong habit.
most the time i just say stfu and it buys me another hour or 2 to play(not out loud though).lol

My woman was like this, mostly with my DVD collection until I bought a cabinet to put them all in. I preferred them being on display on a bookshelf but she thought it looked ugly. Games thankfully I had to sell most of the old ones to give me some funds for our flat, but even the 20+ Xbox 360 games she would moan about under the TV.
She has quietened down now though, since I bought her a Wii. Yeah yeah she has the Wii Fit and Wii Sports on the go, but her favourite game is Super Paper Mario! Now that she is happy, I have got a Dreamcast again and I'm gonna start building that collection! Muahaha.

I don't think my wife has complained about trading games she's bought. She even does it once in a while. I don't think either of us really keeps track of who bought which games and what was considered a gift.
She does have a problem with my game room and her guest bedroom occupying the same space though. Or from my perspective I have a problem with her putting a futon and decorations in the way of where I want a recliner and shelving units of games. It's all a compromise I guess.

It's better to find someone who shares your interests, or at least has interests of her own. I have witnessed too many people who get together with someone and end up being forced to abandon or downplay their hobbies.noiseredux wrote:yeah you're probably better off alone.
There are plenty of available people out there. You will eventually find someone who fits better.
