Nintendo did a good thing for me

Post by mas »

I have had the wii since 2006. It was the only console I waited in line for. So in the last month or two while it plays games the wii sounds like a freaking dreamcast!!! It's a loud humming noise and it wont go away. So I called nintendo and after dealing with them and arguing over the phone for 5 min or so they are going to fix my wii for free!!!! I am soo excited about that. I was always told that they will do anything to get every penny from you but this was a nice jester. Thanks nintendo.
Now that I don't have the wii for a few weeks, Does anyone know how to remove the fog in most of my n64 games?

Yeah, Nintendo's customer service is pretty legit. They've really come through a few times for me.

What were you arguing on the phone for? I don't understand why they do the repair for free. It's out of warranty for 4 years!!

Turok 1 is the only game I can think of where fog sucks. But honestly, I can't think of another single game that has a fog problem. Never mind "most games." What are these games that you speak of?

Well they wanted to charge me 85.00 to get it repaired. Then they talked me down to 50.00, then after a few min on hold they said it would be free. I understand that it's almost 6 years old but I took very good care of it and after some searching, the early system's have been known to do that due to the laser defect in the system.
Regardless nintendo is fixing the problem.

Oh lol. You should have used blue text, that is apparently the official way to express sarcasm on Racketboy.

I thought you were serious though because that's not the first time I've heard a complaint about fog "issues" in N64 games. I really was wondering what these people are talking about.

A lot of people love the Hori N64 controller, I think it's alright but I prefer to use a first party controller. Are you interested in one because of joystick issues, or because you like the design of the controller? If you're having joystick issues, I recommend this. I've played through almost 3 games so far using that joystick, as well as briefly tested out some other games with it. My only complaint is that it's a little too sensitive for aiming in FPS's like Goldeneye. Turok (1) had an option to turn sensitivity down, so it was no problem. I'm using it to play Majora's Mask right now, and it's great. After using it, it's hard to use the joystick on a first party controller now. These new ones are just so smooth.

The Hori pad is cool, but I don't think it works well for some games. The button placement was no good for Star Fox. I think the joystick might be a slight bit more sensitive then a first party controller, but I'm not sure. The Z, L and R button placement kinda annoys me a little. It's a well build controller though.

Thanks ziggy maybe I will just stick with the n64 controllers instead. I know alot of people complain about the fog and blur and I was like that at firts last week. I am used to playing ps3 and wii and when you go back it's really hard. Play that system for 2 or 3 days and you get used to the graphics on the flat screen. I love the 64. I love my snes oand nes more but I do have love for the 64 bit system.

Hey now, what's wrong with that? You MUST respect the WHIRR REEEE WIRRRR REEEE WHIR REE to be a TRUE DC fan. Maybe the Wii just wanted to remind us of how great Dreamcast gaming truly was.....

Nintendo has always been good with the service. I remember getting 2 free SNES controllers because the ones that came with my system had loose plastic inside them so they always rattled around. Good times.

Nintendo does free drive repairs to many early Wii models. They had a crappy drive that crapped out all the time. Happened to my console, my two best friends, and one of my mom's friends. Pretty much everyone I know who had an early Wii. The first thing to go is usually the ability to read dual-layered discs. They may have known that was the way your Wii was headed.

Also note, I'm pretty sure you have a new warranty once you get the console back. I ended up having my Wii break down about a month after getting its drive repaired and called them up. Even though it was a problem the console had long before I sent it in for repairs and told them that it was unrelated to their repair job or any drive problem, they insisted that it was under repair warranty. Ended up getting it replaced for free.

Nintendo can really come through sometimes.
