one night out of the week just for gaming
Re: one night out of the week just for gaming
I'm in high school, so pretty much right when you'd expect me to: weekends. Whenever I'm not doing something with a friend or animating, nothing scheduled really. I suppose I play a lot of my Game Boy Color in pre-calc, and am probly the only kid in the whole damn school who carries one around.

That reminds me, I used to have a fantastic Super Mario Bros. level builder/editor on my TI-86. Played the shit out of that back in high school.

Anyone else feel like they spend more time buying, researching, and reading about games than actually playing them? *sigh*

As a kid, researching and reading instructions for a game was half the fun. But yeah, now it's more of a "just sell me the game" type deal, which honestly isn't as much fun.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Anyone else feel like they spend more time buying, researching, and reading about games than actually playing them? *sigh*

Actually all of us go through this at some point. Just about every member here with over 500 posts has mentioned experiencing this feeling. You're not alone, this website does count as a support group for this kind of thing...though admittedly you'll be doing exactly what you felt like you were doing too much of while you read it.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Anyone else feel like they spend more time buying, researching, and reading about games than actually playing them? *sigh*
All joking aside, I was serious about many of the members having experienced this feeling at some point, self included. But the truth for me is that I enjoy those things almost as much as playing the games anyway, so it's not really that big of a problem. Consider this: instead of just playing games, you're taking the time to experience other portions of a hobby you love. Don't feel bad about getting to know it better.
As for me, I game when I get the chance. Mainly just been playing Skyrim lately, but I am usually only playing one game at a time.

I can't even guess how many times this question has been posed on this forum.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Anyone else feel like they spend more time buying, researching, and reading about games than actually playing them? *sigh*

I found that it was a phase for me. Now that I have most systems worth mentioning, and a fairly representative sampling of the libraries from each I don't need to buy much anymore.
