I think people like to misinterpret the whole "corporations are people" decision. All it did was say that a corporation is afforded the same 1st amendment rights as a regular person. Corporations already are people for other things, such as contract law and the ability to sue and be sued. But they still don't have all the rights as a natural born citizen; for example, they can't vote.AppleQueso wrote:On the other hand, they've been VERY pro-free speech lately too. Fortunately, having played Shadowrun all these years I've been prepared for this ).

Corporations can do better than vote. In many cases they actually write the legislation that will regulate them. Oh, and you forgot one thing that corporations can't do. They can't go to jail.MrPopo wrote: All it did was say that a corporation is afforded the same 1st amendment rights as a regular person. Your fault for electing bribable representatives. As for the jail comment, that was just asinine.Hatta wrote:Corporations can do better than vote. I still hold to the belief that corporations aren't people until Texas executes one.Hatta wrote:Corporations can do better than vote. Lol, Popo. You think we have a democracy or something? The major corporations and bankers run the country. They bought most of the politicians. They write the bills themselves and then give millions of dollars to many people in congress to vote in their favor. It is outrageous.MrPopo wrote:Your fault for electing bribable representatives. Even if we somehow managed to elect an honest guy into congress or a good guy as president, one of two things is sure to happen:
Either they get bribed (legally bribed, mind you) to make decisions that benefit the rich and hurt everyone else, or they are forced to leave office one way or another. In other words, be corrupt or GTFO. That's how this country works.
This is why its very important for us to put in a limit on how much money can be spent for "lobbying". This legal bribery needs to stop now.

You know what would fix that? If EVERYONE elected honest guys. But the problem is that the people electing representatives get most of their facts from campaign ads. People vote without doing real research.Inazuma wrote:Lol, Popo. You think we have a democracy or something? The major corporations and bankers run the country. They bought most of the politicians. But let's say your'e right, be corrupt or get out. That's not how this country works. That's how EVERY country works. It's endemic to human nature.

Yes, it is how every country works. The whole world is corrupt.
