By you or me, sure. By the average gamer, no way. Not Mega Man games, for sure. And I can think of plenty of others that I'm sure neither of us could beat in under an hour like Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Bionic Commando, and more.Xeogred wrote:I'd say all the old NES games can be beaten in under an hour easily.BurningDoom wrote:Mega Man 2, for sure. And it's completely for nostalgic reasons. I played that game so much that now it's complete child's play. I can complete it in less than an hour, probably faster, I've never timed myself.

Re: Best Mega Man game?
Mega Man X is by far the best. They're all really great, though.
Re: Best Mega Man game?
X1 fans, describe how it's superior to X4? X4 seems like a grand evolution to the SNES games in every single way to me, so I'm very eager to hear why you and others hold the original in such high regard? It's not that I wish to argue, it's just such a popular opinion that X1 is the best, and I just can't see it, so I would honestly enjoy to hear some detailed explanation.

No cheesy anime cutscenes, X looks cooler, music is superior, not quite as difficult thus I can replay it more. Add in nostalgia and you got a winning combination.brunoafh wrote:X1 fans, describe how it's superior to X4? Don't get me wrong, X4 is great, I just enjoyed X more. Fun factor, maybe?

Well, I can see where you're coming from. Everything is opinion, I gotcha. But damn dude, the X4 OST is pure eargasm. The opening level for X is great but the X4 OST overall is 10/10 for me.o.pwuaioc wrote:No cheesy anime cutscenes, X looks cooler, music is superior, not quite as difficult thus I can replay it more. Like I said, don't get me wrong, X4 is awesome. I dunno, musical tastes I guess?brunoafh wrote:Well, I can see where you're coming from. Everything is opinion, I gotcha. Re: Best Mega Man game?
I never played X4 so if it's better than X, I wouldn't know.
Re: Best Mega Man game?
X just has better aesthetics to me. Plus like you guys all know from me in that big Megaman thread we had recently, I don't really care for Zero as a character or playing as him. He is Super Easy Novice mode, lol. I don't think that's a legit complaint though at all, since it's kind of a bonus/optional stuff.
Clearly most people around here aren't as big on X2 and X3 as I am though, I definitely put all the SNES games above X4 and the rest. Like I said, I think it's just the graphical style, the music, and the aesthetics in general. The stories were simpler too but a nice more mature take on the franchise, but it was still simple enough without too much dialogue (bosses in X4 and on...) and lame idiots interrupting you throughout stages (I remember this wasn't an issue in X4 though, but X5 and X6 ... ughhhh. JUST LET ME PLAY!)
@bruno, can X4 top Palace Grounds?
My only beef with X is that you don't have the dashing from the start. I know, I gotta play ONE LEVEL without it and another HALF to get them...
, but yeah from there on I abuse the dashing like hell. I hold the SNES/PSX controllers differently to play these games which I don't do for anything else, it's pretty funky. I push the front of my right index finger on A/Circle so I can constantly dash, jump, and shoot consecutively.
, I have literally been playing those games and replaying them for ~20 years now, so that probably says something. I got every achievement in MM9 and MM10 if it says anything, that includes Mr. Perfect.

I didn't mean NES games in general, just Megaman. I'm pretty sure I beat most of them in 30 minutes, but yeah I've witnessed some of my friends attempt to play them and it's painful to watch.BurningDoom wrote:By you or me, sure. Re: Best Mega Man game?
X1 and X4 are my two favorites of the X series, but I find X a little more balanced. That is -- in X4 if you know which weapon to use against a boss, it's a joke. There's almost no way they can hit you. So in a sense, X1 is just not as broken. But X4 is brilliant in bringing the X series to 128bit and making it beautiful and huge and hilarious and awesome. I love it.brunoafh wrote:X1 fans, describe how it's superior to X4?
