After reading these comments I'm going to wait until i see it super cheap. I never got anywhere in Maximum Carnage as a kid and as an adult I haven't had the patience yet. When do you get to be Venom?
You can choose to play as Venom after the third stage or so as Spiderman (I think after he gets his ass handed to him in the church by Carnage, Shriek, and Doppleganger.

Once you get the option to play Venom the difficulty level really starts to go up I'd say.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm telling you right now, avoid this on the SNES. I can't say how the Genesis port holds up, but the SNES port is awful.
Indeed. I own it because I remember liking the arcade as a kid, and I was completely disappointed. The graphics take a huge hit in the SNES port, and the hit detection is ridiculous.
I own all 3 and obvioulsy the arcade version is far superior to the 16bit counter parts. I don't remember having a hard time w/ the hit detection on SNES? I'll have to play it again, I know as far as which version I preferred between SNES and Genesis I liked the Genesis version better. SNES just had better graphics, slightly.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

The SNES does NOT take a huge hit in presentation... especially compared to the Genesis port. The Genesis port was a bit better, but the speed jerked around.

Stick to the NES Captain American & Hawkeye (technically "Captain America and the Avengers") game -- an action adventure game that was pretty cool.

Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
