http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillotine
The basis for the machine's success was the belief that it was a humane form of execution, contrasting with the methods used in pre-revolutionary, Ancien Régime France. In France, before the guillotine, members of the nobility were beheaded with a sword or axe (which typically took at least two blows before killing the condemned), while commoners were usually hanged, a form of death that could take minutes or longer. Other more gruesome methods of executions were also used, such as the wheel or burning at the stake. In the case of decapitation, it also sometimes took repeated blows to sever the head completely, and it was also very likely for the condemned to slowly bleed to death before the head could be fully severed. The condemned or the family of the condemned would sometimes pay the executioner to ensure that the blade was sharp in order to provide for a quick and relatively painless death.

Re: Personal Collection Goals
Do you know of a better way to kill a chick? If I left them alone, they would have been bullied by the other chicks for several days and eventually die from having the shit beat out of them or starvation. The Last Horseman wrote:...by pulling off their heads?Inazuma wrote:I killed them so they wouldn't have to suffer painful and slow deaths.Inazuma wrote:I've killed a few baby chickens by cutting or pulling off their heads. >_>
These are chicks that have minor birth defects. It's natural for the strong and healthy chicks to kill the weak and sick ones. Survival of the fittest.

Personally? I would probably find them after. Most of the chicks I have raised were born at night, and when I woke any deformed ones were already dead. Actually, I never remember having a live one that was deformed... I need to check on the chicks more.

Re: Personal Collection Goals
My overall goals would be to finish off my N64 and gamecube collection. I've got around 70 or so N64 loose games and there are about 30 games still on my list to get (plus a few consoles/controllers/acessories).
As for the short term - I've decided to stop collecting all together for about a year, just to play through what I have and to re-asses what I want. I've also decided to build a MAME arcade cabinet from scratch - along with some other game related d.i.y. jobs, like arcadesticks and a professional looking big box to store my N64 collection.

Re: Personal Collection Goals
My main focus is getting all SNES (cart only) and Gamecube games that are interesting to me. I really only collect games for playing purposes. Also getting a bit of ps1 and NES when I can.
Re: Personal Collection Goals
Since I've only been collecting for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, my collection goals are somewhat specific. I made a big list of all the GB and GBC games that I'd be willing to add to the collection, but only games that I would actually be willing to play.
Among that, there is a sub list of all the GB games that were ports or rehashes of console games, like the Donkey Kong Land series, Battletoads, Mega Man, etc. So I guess my current goal is completing that list.
If you'd like to see whats in my GB/GBC collection right now: http://backloggery.com/games.php?user=s ... onsole=GBC

Re: Personal Collection Goals
I mostly collect more recent system stuff but I still have a few goals I'm going for:
Every Zelda. I own all of them in one form or another but I'm missing the original carts for the first 3. Beyond that I may try to go for every version, like gray Link's Awakening. Maybe a gold OoT and holo MM too. Spinoffs are harder; I have Tingle's Rupeeland but I do need Link's Crossbow Training, Tingle's Balloon Fight, BS Zelda, even something like Tetra's Trackers. Don't know that I'll bother with VC rereleases.
Every Metroid. This is much easier. Missing only 1 & 3.
Every Harmonix game. This is deceptively difficult. What about multiplatform games? Rock Band Unplugged definitely counts but what about the DS version of say Rock Band 3? Also need to find out which Karaoke Revolution games Harmonix made, though I'm really okay with just owning one.
I'll probably do a few others like every Naught Dog game, every Eye Toy game, but these are what I'm focused on now.
