the wii system my thought's

Post by mas »

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I wrote anything and since all the great games are coming out for the holiday season I thought I want to just shed my opinion on a console that no one likes the nintendo wii. But first I picked up a great find a nes front loader and it is a really clean one and 45 nes games for all 80.00. The games are ninja gaiden 1-3 double dragon 1-3, contra, battletoads,mario1-3, tmnt 1,2, metal gear, tetris, dr.mario, m.t punch out and the rest were common games.
Now back to the wii. I have a ps3 and even though my kids play that and the new cod is coming out, to me the xbox 360 and the ps3 are for gamers. Where the wii is for family and casual gamers. I do hate the motion controller but there are some really great games for the system that has the classic controller or gamecube controller option or the controller can turn sideways.
For me here is my list that I like for the system,
Kirby return to dreamland and epic yarn, new super mario bros, punch out, kof, metal slug anthology, samurai shodown anthology, namco museum remix, super smash bros, mortal kombat, guilty gear, tatsunoko vs capcom, the sky crawlers, muramasa, tetris ,sonic colors, re4.
Then you have the shooters like house of the dead2&3 and overkill, metroid prime trilogy, resident evil series, and ultimate shooting collection.
Now I know that there are 1 out of ten or twenty games that came out for the wii that is good, but for a family system to get the kids and mom of the couch it is a great system. I was not playing for a long time but I did research and the games are cheap now and i gave the system a chance and I love it.
We have all the mario's and just dance 3 and it's great. You can't play the sport's games on it or games that are out for the 360 and ps3 but for nintendo based or anything that the system has to offer that the ps3 or 360 don't have it really is worth getting for a christmas gift for a family system.
One more thing I bout some really crappy games like ocean commander and pacific liberator and chicken shoot and for the price it's not bad at all. Racketboy shoud make an article like the "The best crappy games to play for under 10.00"or somthing of that nature lol

Honestly, the wii has at last as many games that appeal to me as my ps3. Many of them are cheap too.

Most of the hate comes from people who haven't bothered actually exploring the library. I'd say overall its library of good games is at least as good as the gamecube's if not better.

Honestly the Wii isn't so bad. I picked up a second hand one a year or two ago for a really good price. I soft modded it immediately, dedicated a spare USB hd I had laying around to it, and loaded it up with around 30 of the highest rated games available for it.

That's how you do it...lol

Hi everyone,
HI!

It's been a while since I wrote anything and since all the great games are coming out for the holiday season I thought I want to just shed my opinion on a console that no one likes the nintendo wii.
Cool. I'm a Wii fan so I'm interested in reading your opinion.

That's great. I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not as it's not really my scene, but I do play several of those on the Wii Virtual Console and they hold up well.

Now back to the wii.
Cool.

Where the wii is for family and casual gamers.
You mean like, that's where it does best sales-wise and that's where most of the marketing is pitched towards? I agree.

I do hate the motion controller
I mostly agree with you. Some games in which you can tilt are fun. As in pointing your throw in Warioland Shake or titling the platforms in NSMBWii. I like the IR pointer most of the time, such as with Trauma Center. But I more or less have never enjoyed the shake/waggle mechanic in any game.

Kirby return to dreamland and epic yarn, new super mario bros, punch out, super smash bros, tatsunoko vs capcom, muramasa, sonic colors
I agree with these. They're reason enough for me to buy a Wii! Don't forget Donkey Kong Country Returns if we're discussing amazing platform-exclusive platformers. :D

kof, metal slug anthology, samurai shodown anthology, namco museum remix, mortal kombat, guilty gear, tetris , re4. house of the dead overkill, resident evil series, and ultimate shooting collection.
As these are ports from [edit:or were later ported to] other systems, I'm not sure they are strong evidence of the Wii's greatness.

Now I know that there are 1 out of ten or twenty games that came out for the wii that is good, but for a family system to get the kids and mom of the couch it is a great system.
I agree, there are games on here that are girlfriend-friendly like no other system has to offer. That's [also!] worth the price for the console to me!

You can't play the sport's games on it
Nitpicky, but I think the latest Tiger Woods is actually best on Wii of any platform.

One more thing I bout some really crappy games like ocean commander and pacific liberator and chicken shoot and for the price it's not bad at all.
The Wii does have a lot of garbage. I wish it didn't, but maybe the garbage is necessary to keep the platform afloat in between releases of the real gems. Sadly, there may only be two new Wii games left for me to buy: Skyward Sword and Rhythm Heaven. But the console has a solid catalog and it was easy for me to build a couple-dozen-strong collection of grade-b-or-better games (and mostly cheaply, as you mention.

And thanks for the tip on Sky Crawlers. That looks interesting!

I just picked up goldeneye 007, mario all stars, metroid other m, a boy and his blob, and sin and punishment. Since I bought mw3 for my 2 kids I will never get my ps3 back. That's why I'm sticking with the wii for the winter. Cant wait for rayman origins and zelda.

I originally bought a Wii when it launched, did the whole camping out thing which was a blast and will do it again for sure. I played Zelda:TP for hours, some Wii sports and quickly realized that there was nothing else, and the near future was looking grim. I traded it for a 360 with Gears of War and never looked back.

Now here we are 5 years later and I just bought another Wii 2 days ago in anticipation for Zelda: SS. But fully knowing there is a very large back log of games that need to be played. I picked up some of the best on the system, and borrowed a few. Let me tell you, there may be a lot of garbage on the system, but what is worth playing is WORTH playing!

Super Mario Galaxy is AMAZING, Donkey Country Country Returns is a blast and quite challenging. Wario Ware smooth moves is a million times better than "Touched" on the DS (which i personally loved). Metroid Prime 3 controls like a dream, better than I could have expected. The list goes on and on with games that need to be played on this system. And come this Sunday, Zelda will be EPIC, I will be getting the LE bundle for sure.

What I am going on about is that I agree with the OP that while it took a while, the Wii has MANY good games that any true gamer owes it to themselves to play!

Skyward Sword shows that the motion plus DOES work. It just takes somebody who knows what they're doing to utilise it properly. It adds SO MUCH to the combat it's hard to imagine how Zelda games functioned without it...

If for no other reason, retro gamers should be a fan of the Wii because compilations still receive a physical release on that platform.

Dragon's Lair Trilogy? Thank you. Mad Dog McCree Gunslinger's Pack? Yes, please. Data East Arcade Classics? Awesome.

I must admit, however, that Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection and all of the recent HD collections on the PS3 are making me a little jealous, however...
