Best Wii Lightgun?

Post by fastbilly1 »

Since we all know the Wiimote is essentially a light gun, and the console has some really good ports of arcade lightgun games, I was just curious to what yall think are the best shells for the controller?

I have two Perfect Shots, and I think the handle is just alittle too fat. They are fatter than any real pistol I have ever shot, except the Desert Eagle, and just hurt my hands after a while of playing. The Wii Zapper is only really good for Links Crossbow Training. So I am tempted to import the Hand Cannon:

But I have also been toying with the idea of mounting the wiimote inside of a Saturn Stunner. The Stunner is my favorite console lightgun and just eyeballing it, I think the wiimote would fit fine (have to do skates cherry switch mod for the trigger and do some creative battery pack work). But if the Hand Cannon is good enough, then I wont be doing any modding.

It also looks like Nyko came out with their digital triggered lightgun in the form of the "Wand Action Pak":

Anyone have any experience with their wiimote setup? All in one would be nice.

If I have to buy dedicated lightgun controllers, thats fine. Gun games are always a hit at parties and a second Wii dedicated to them would be nice.

I use just the Wiimote by itself in no sort of shell at all. Take the condom off and you're good to go. Why use a hunk of plastic? That's pretty much like those oversized shells I've seen the for Wiimote to make it more resemble an NES controller. Just save your money.

^I have the R.E. one that's a Magnum in one hand and a knife attachment for the nunchuck in the other. Going to try it out tonight or tomorrow.

Here is the review. I've heard good things from other people about this too.

I like the "Wii Duo Shot" for games like Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor. You can find them at Gamestop for around $15

It works well for most other games, too - even FPS's. But since the A and Z buttons are swapped on this shell, I can only recommend it for the games that let you use either button to shoot, or for the games that have customizable controls.

Weekend Warrior - I had not heard of the Wii Duo Shot, I will give it a look. Thanks

Vlame - You are right, but the controller and gun are sold as a pack. They have a digital trigger that is the only reason I am interested in it. But they have really mixed reviews.

Satoshi Matrix - They are just hunks of plastic, but after Ive fired real guns for a long time and firing it by holding the tv remote just doesnt feel right. That and my girlfriends father asked for them. He is a sheriff and whenever he comes over or I go up, he wants to kill zombies. Personally, I can play it either way, just holding a gun feels better.

Speaking with several others, it looks like modding Saturn Stunners might be the best course of action. That and they would be cheaper than EMS Topguns for MAME lightgun games.
