Watched LITTLE MONSTERS last night. Loved as a kid, and I know why. It's crude, contains foul language, your typical bully drinking urine, and a wise ass who eats peanut butter and onion sandwiches as the star. As a kid, I thought the lead was perfect, the girl was cute, and the monster (howie mandell) could be a perfect friend to get into to mischievous with.
As an adult, I just have to take the movie with a grain of salt and enjoy it for what it is. The movie has a lot of faults, and I can't help the fact I'm all film-schooly when I judge movies, but it's still a lot of fun and entertaining. It's a 3.5 out of 4 stars on being fun, but as far as judging it as a movie, more like a 2 out of 4 stars.
We all have crappy movies we like for our own reasons; this may be the only crappy movie I like that isn't bad for the sake of being bad (Oh Hi Mark).
it's funny. Most things that I enjoyed as a kid, I can dig in to the nostalgia and enjoy now. Things like The Wizard or TMNT movies still rule in book. But when I tried to watch Little Monsters earlier this year it did not go well. It's like everything I remembered thinking was fun or funny about it was actually stupid and annoying. I just thought it was horrible as an adult. And as you may know, I like a lot of terrible movies.
