Legend of Zelda (NES) Sprite Poster

Post by Hookshot_John »

My tribute to the first game in the Legend of Zelda series. I'm sure I'll be doing more in the future.

Image

This one depicts a custom sprite of Link holding up his sword. Each section of color on Link is a different screenshot from the game. I tried to make it consistent, but also make the screenshots interesting.

At the bottom are most of the dungeon enemies/bosses he faces. Again, just thought it added some visual interest.

Take a look at the full size work over at Deviant Art: http://thehookshot.deviantart.com/#/d4ey8g6

Thanks guys!

Mostly Photoshop. It I was planing on making a print/poster to sell I would have used some Illustrator to keep the sprites crisper.

Anyone have thoughts on the next 8-bit game I should do in this format?

Typically I'd expect to see Super Mario Bros, but I'd want a Galaga one.

That's actually a game I didn't even think of! I'll have to see how the black screens will work with the ship. With the Zelda one I had to find rooms/screenshots that matched the color of Link.

Well, I'm sure you know the usual suspects, but at some point I would recommend: Mega Man, Punch-Out (Little Mac victory pose), Metroid, and Kid Icarus.
