What was the last movie you've seen?

Good man.

I'd love to see the original versions done up with a nice transfer on blu ray, but I honestly doubt that'll ever happen. Oh well, one can always dream.

As I was setting up the quote there, I realized you were talking about the Documentary. I guess I missed the "of" in the title. Whew. I seriously thought you said "King Kong is fantastic" and that you were referring to the 9 hour home video of Peter Jackson jerking off into a camera lens.

Yes, King of Kong is awesome. Peter Jackson's King Kong was a mess.

I'm not holding my breath for that. Considering that the DVD originals are just ripped from the Laserdisk it would take a lot of digital work to get them to look good on Blu Ray. And if George is going to be doing digital work he's got to add something  . I'd also love to see a theatrical rerelease of the originals but chances of that are so slim I'm going to have to settle seeing the "3D" updates on one of the few 2D screens they'll be showing at.

Yeah I remember those discs. Non-anamorphic transfers in 2006? What the hell. They wouldn't use an SD laserdisc mastes for a blu ray, that'd make zero sense and would look god awful to boot... what am I saying they probably WOULD do that huh?

I wish he'd just hand the originals over to Criterion and let them do a release. They'd do it properly.

That would be amazing. At this rate our chances of a high quality restoration rest with whoever inherits the necessary rights when George Lucas kicks the bucket. :(

Honestly I haven't seen the Peter Jackson film but I thought the game was pretty good.

There's a scene where Jack Black outruns a stampede of dinosaurs.

Read that line again.

Also, when that stampede gets 'out of hand' and some dinos fall off of a cliff, you watch the falling scene for about 90 seconds. 90 seconds of dinosaurs (who were outrun by Nacho Libre) falling. Off a cliff. For a minute and a half.

It was the most boring movie I have ever seen. And I've seen the non MST3k version of Manos: The Hands of Fate.

I keep hoping George Lucas will eventually tweak return of the jedi so that the final battle takes place on the Wookie Planet instead of the Ewok Planet. But then I remember he only makes changes that make the movies worse.
