I completely agree with you, people seem to love it because his films are artsy, pretentious and "intelligent" (I nearly laughed while writing that) but they aren't, the only good things he's ever done is fucking up his career by calling himself a Nazi on Cannes (Next time he should start making out with 3 guys in front of a redneck group) and Dancer In The Dark (Only because I like Bjork).
The worst part is that snobs call Antichrist and Salo masterpieces while they despise films like Cannibal Holocaust, Maniac or A Serbian film. Lack of consistency much?

Again, I only liked the film because I love musicals and because Bjork rules. That's it, Von Trier is overrated as hell, have you sen Dogville? It's one of the worst things I've ever seen.
I hate musicals. But I enjoyed the Selma Songs album on its own. I skipped Dogville. Kidman is great, but I already knew I didn't like Von Trier. I only watched Antichrist because my sis urged us to. She said the trailer scared her and knew we liked horror so wanted us to watch and see if it was good.

I watched The Thing last night. I liked it, lol, the visuals were pretty cool. I went with one of my younger brothers; I had never seen the original and he told me that that could actually be a good thing! Turns out he was right(?) 'cause when I came home and started watching the original on Netflix it was like whoa, right where the new one left off, lol!
Saw Mike Ross heading in as my bro and I were exiting the theater, lol, used to play vanilla SFIV with the guy at Super back in the day. Small world.
Watched MONSTER SQUAD last night. Well I tried to watch it. I'm not kidding when I say we had over 100 trick or treaters. We ran out of candy by 9pm, which worked out well as after 8pm our visitors were a bunch of teenagers who didn't dress up and came with multiple bags asking "My brother is sick, I'm taking up candy for him" which we heard over and over. My wife went into teacher mode every time and said "I'm sorry, but one candy per person. If your brother is sick, you should be nice and share your candy with him", and she's saying this to people who are around 16-18 years old.
