Please help me buy One Piece manga

Post by Inazuma »

I'm not a big manga guy but I would love to collect the original Japanese language manga for One Piece, my favorite anime ever. The problem is, I don't really know the best way to buy it.

I did some searches on the internet and Ebay and found most of the One Piece manga (brand new) at an average price of $7.21 per volume. This includes taxes and shipping. It sounds like a pretty good price to me, but I don't really know for sure. Maybe I can get them cheaper somewhere else.

Anyone reading this who actually buys manga regularly? Can you hook me up with a good place to buy from (online or brick and mortar)? I live in CA, USA. Thanks! (^_^)

I'll check the Japanese book store by me this weekend when I'm over in the area. I'm pretty sure they have them, but their prices tend to be high, so you might be looking at a better deal already.

That's pretty comperable to US manga prices without shipping, so I'd consider that a good deal. I buy all my manga off Amazon, but that's the english language stuff; not what you're looking for.

If I recall right, Amazon.co.jp ships books international, you might want to check them out.

They do, but the shipping is very expensive (I've seen shipping rates at 10+ per one book before).

You might want to look for a seller that has a lot of the volumes you're after and try to work out a private deal with him. I'd say that's your best bet.

Find the Japanese translated equivalent word of ONE PIECE. The Kanji/hiranga (sorry if I dont spell it right) on google search and shoppping should give you japanese/asian websites that sell them.

Do the same for the authors name and title as well, maybe there will be more stuff.

Also are you sure you want to do this? Isnt there like OVER 9000 volumes of one piece manga over in japan?

It looks like there are about 63 volumes so far, and the story still has no end in sight. That's just fine with me. I think it's the greatest story ever told.

I can buy a bookshelf if need be. It would be worth it.

Thanks for all the helpful replies so far.

Don't forget anime convention dealer rooms if you or someone else you know is going.

At 7.21 with shipping, you will not get a better price. Most dealers at an anime con do not carry raws, since they dont sell (trust me I tried to sell a collection of 150 random raws from good series for several shows and only sold them when I discounted them to $1 each).

Good luck on the hunt. That is an enjoyable series.

Thanks. From reading the posts here, it sounds like $7.21 is a good price after all.
