I'm blazing through the game like no business.. I didn't have to level up and I've gone as far as fighting the 2nd elemental (King of Baron, forgot his name). Man this game is soo much easier from what I remember playing as a kid.
Is anyone having the same experience? Is there a way to turn up the difficulty? I forgot if I had the choice at the beginning.
Is it just me, or is Final Fantasy IV on PSP really easy?

I'm mostly pretty sure we already had this thread... where's Bruno?

I did a search, and didn't find it, maybe it came up within another topic? So, I'm guessing they did make it easier yeah?noiseredux wrote:I'm mostly pretty sure we already had this thread... where's Bruno?

bruno's the expert. I feel like he said... no? But then I feel like there was an argument.

The game is based off the GBA port, so yes, it's extremely easy and still has the weird ATB timing bug apparently (enemies turns can get skipped sometimes). bruno tells me the SNES version is still even easier, but yeah Complete is still a cakewalk. I really wish it was based off the Chronicles hard type version myself... that's how I first beat FFIV and it was pretty awesome. Completely was nice for me to replay the game after many years and see the story again, but yeah if you want the ultimate version of FFIV I'd say the PSX Chronicles version is it.

Thanks for the tip, i'll do that. Maybe Final Fantasy IV was difficult since I didn't know about the spells and what they actually did. I did notice the issue with the ATB timing, it feels like I got to Rydia's village without even one enemy taking a swipe at me.Xeogred wrote:The game is based off the GBA port, so yes, it's extremely easy and still has the weird ATB timing bug apparently (enemies turns can get skipped sometimes). bruno tells me the SNES version is still even easier, but yeah Complete is still a cakewalk. I just played this last night, oddly enough, on the SNES and got to the village Myst without a single problem. I do miss the hard type, but honestly, I never found it that hard either. I haven't played Chronicles yet, but I hear it's full of insane loading times. Truth?shateredsoul wrote:Thanks for the tip, i'll do that. Been playing Chronicles myself, the load times for the memory card are excruciating. Everything else is okay, I guess?
The game's pretty tough, though. I shelved the game for a bit because I was getting my ass kicked pretty badly, I just got the airship though, not sure where to go.

*scratches head* lol, did you play a Japanese hard type rom or something?o.pwuaioc wrote:I just played this last night, oddly enough, on the SNES and got to the village Myst without a single problem. People overstate the loading in FFIV Chronicles. FFV, FFVI, and Chrono Trigger especially are WAY worse. From what I remember the loading/saving might take awhile like Lodestar said, and the "initial" start up of the game was always slow, but from there it was very smooth sailing going into menu's, battles, and everything. Way smoother than the other games mentioned in the Chronicles/Anthology packs... basically Chronicles is playable whereas the PSX versions of those other games make me just want to go bust out the SNES carts.
Hard Type still isn't too hard though, yes. But at least a fair challenge, like FFV with some of its insane bosses (Atmos and the first battle with ExDeath, holy lord). If the SNES version is easier than the GBA/PSP version then you can probably beat it blind. With FFIV PSP though you can literally run through most battles with auto-battle on. That's also how I beat some of the tales for The After Years so far, I literally never turned auto battle off for some of them (select = auto battle). Kinda of lame but it saves time and all I'm doing is "Attack" anyways. lol...

Yep. Although at this point I know the story so well that I could play the Super Famicom cart without a problem.Xeogred wrote:*scratches head* lol, did you play a Japanese hard type rom or something?
That's good to know. I've been debating getting it for a while now.People overstate the loading in FFIV Chronicles. FFV, FFVI, and Chrono Trigger especially are WAY worse.
