I bought one from CC&G and it looked exactly like the one pictured on Nintendo Repair Shop. You can also email him and ask. He's pretty responsive. He could definitely stand to modernize the site though.

Yeah, he could make the site a little more customer friendly. I'll email him and ask.

Guess what I just got in the mail...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-REPLACEMENT ... 5890182fca

I got it from that seller, video-game-museum, too. I would recommend them as a seller. I ordered three sticks and they were packed VERY well for shipping. Each stick was inside its own bubble wrap pouch. The tree pouches were all wrapped in more bubble wrap. That bigger package was inside a box. The box was inside a larger Priority Mail envelope. So yeah, packed VERY well.

Anyways, didn't think I would have the time just yet but I was just too damn excited, I put one of the sticks in one of my controllers. Overall, it's excellent. There was another thread we were talking about this in, but I don't have the time to search for it right now (I'll probably find it later). But some one was saying that they're a little sensitive, or aren't sensitive enough. I found it to be a little sensitive.

I played Super Mario 64 and noticed no difference in control (other than the fact that the stick was more comfortable under my thumb). Then I played GoldenEye, and that's when I noticed it was a little sensitive. Turning left or right, I would tend to over shoot it. Holding R to aim with the cross hairs was a little tricky as well. Maybe it's because I played that game so many damn times with worn sticks that the little extra sensitivity it has seemed very awkward. Didn't have a lot of time to mess around though, I'll have to check it out more later. I know that GoldenEye has controller settings, and I think it has stick sensitivity settings, so it could be easily adjusted to make it feel "normal". After that I popped in Star Fox 64 real quick and it seemed "normal" like Mario did.

So yeah, overall I think they're great. But I'll have to mess around with it more later on. I wanna take one apart to find out how they're built. I plan to take pics to post, I'll even take pics of a Nintendo stick for comparison. I might make a new thread for that, once I get around to doing it.

Good to hear Ziggy. I keep meaning to buy these sticks, but since I have five mini pads, I havent needed to look for new controllers.

The Hori mini pads? Yeah, I got one of those. They're alright for some games, but not for others. I didn't like playing Star Fox 64 (for example) with it because of the A, B and C button layouts.

I was just playing a little of the first level of Turok. The sensitivity was a little much for looking up/down and left/right, just like in Goldeneye (you go to turn right or left and you end up whipping around fast). I went into the options and turned down H and V sensitivity a little, and it pretty much matched a real N64 joystick (I was swapping controllers to test).

I was also playing Cruisin' USA a little. The sensitivity was just a hair too much for steering (left and right). I didn't look, but I think you can turn the sensitivity down in the options of this game as well. I didn't bother trying though, it wasn't even that bad. It's not like aiming, anyway.

So my verdict so far, with maybe 10-20 minutes worth of playing time, is that these replacement joysticks are near perfect. I'd say they're perfect with the exception that they're a little too sensitive for any game that needs precise movements (such as aiming in a FPS). Maybe like 90-95% perfect. For FPS and maybe some racing/driving game, the sensitivity is a problem. But those games usually have option settings for sensitivity. There might be other examples that I haven't thought to try yet though.

What I'm gonna do is simple: Any one of my controllers with a joystick that is completely -wrecked- will get replaced with one of these. Any one of my controllers with tight joysticks will be cleaned and lubed to prevent break down. They will also be checked periodically (or if they get a lot of use over a period of time) to make sure they're still lubed up good. This is what I would recommend to any one.

These replacement joysticks are great, but I know there will be times when I want to use a real N64 joystick. I know if I'm not aiming good in Goldeneye I'll blame it on the joystick  so I need some that are "true".
