List of games with dancing or music as combat methods.

Post by MrEco »

So, yeah. I've been kind of interested lately in seeing how many video games out there somehow incorporate dancing/music/singing as combat mechanics during the gameplay. So I thought "Hey, people have made lists for similar quirky things on Racketboy, why not make my own?" So that's it, please contribute any games you think fit this criteria, and I'll edit the master list here in the OP to include all suggestions.

Note: The dancing/music/singing must be incorporated into the actual gameplay and specifically the playable combat periods of gameplay. A cutscene does not count, even if the cutscene depicts characters doing some killing while dancing or whatever.

The List:
Bayonetta
Bazookatone
Brutal Legend
Bust a Groove
Bust a Groove 2
Devil May Cry 3
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Everquest
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy XI
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light
Fret Nice
Gitaroo Man
Guilty Gear XX (And it's remakes)
Gungrave Overdose
Lunar 2
Makeruna Makendo II
Moonwalker
Mother 3
Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge
P.N.03
Pokemon (Any of them that let you use Jigglypuff)
Project Justice
Ragnarok Online
Revolution X
Rock of the Dead
Sly 2
Space Channel 5
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Tekken 3
Tekken 4
Tekken 5
Tekken 6
Wayne's World

I'm not 100% sure on Bayonetta. It's been a while since I played, but if I remember correctly many of her moves resembled dance moves. If someone could help confirm this I'd be grateful.

I saw a bit of what you mean in a youtube video, but does she ever have to use her animal forms for combat?

Yeah, I remember her. But does she just hit people with the guitar or does she actually play music on it for attacks?

Though you did remind me, DMC3 has a guitar weapon and playing it shoots lightning and bats at people.

Speaking of Michael Jackson, how bout some Space Channel 5?

A lot of the game has you singing and dancing in order to defeat bad guys. Later on in this video, there is a dance off with a giant robot.
