ya i seen that youtube guide AFTER the mistake was made lol, i dont know i just dont care for the taping method seems i dunno 1/2 assed to me what if you dropped the cart and the battery slid or something than all your save data is gone and I HATE more than any thing losing game save data

You can't solder to a battery. In order to get it hot enough for the solder to have a chance to stick, you'll cook the battery and have a chance of making it explode. When tabbed batteries are made, they are spot welded. That creates a intense heat in a very tiny area that welds the tab on before the heat can spread. Then the heat does spread fast enough that the battery doesn't really get warmed up overall.

Better to buy tabbed batteries or put in a battery holder when possible in larger carts. I have some tabbed 2032 batteries and can sell you one or do the job if you want.

yup figured all that out i put a BIOS battery holder in my ocerena of time cart but these ones are for game boy carts....almost hopeless trying to cram a battery holder inthe carts lol

I have some tabbed 2032 batteries and can sell you one or do the job if you want.

imma call the local electronics store and see it they have any there so i can just get them without the wait i need about 5 of them 3 for carts 2 to have on hand just in case lol

if the electronics store does not have them i will be sure to keep your off in mind tho

Tone, yes, context, no. The context was simple: you comparing your soldering experience to something most people are familiar with (but not firsthand).

It's obvious you weren't trying to be offensive. The "LOL" tipped me off right away, not to mention you were just referencing something similar- and we all know 'Nam didn't invent traumatic flashbacks, but the hyperbole is what made it humorous.

I don't see anyone in an outrage over Abe Simpson, an animated caricature of a war-torn veteran that suffers from frequent war flashbacks. It's just a joke.

Interesting alternative! I glue-gunned mine in more than five years ago, and it still runs. Seriously. I've been meaning to put together a video tutorial on how to do this for a while, but in truth it's nothing complicated. I used a mini gluegun with two temperature settings -- hi and lo -- and kept it on low during the procedure.

I actually didn't know the dangers of soldering a battery; I'm glad you shared your story, and hope you're okay.

I forgot to note that with the spot welding, the heat is not only in a very tiny area, but also only lasts a very short time. But anyway. moving on.
