Re: N64 Controllers advice... 3rd party
^^^ Thanks for the link.
Actually, I'd rather play with the original controller anyways.
I definitely want to order a few of those when I get the funds for it (just bought a bunch of crap and now I'm broke

Okay, I just got a few of those replacement parts in the mail. I put one in one of my controllers and tested it out...
For the most part, I really like it. So far, it's definitely a good solution to recondition worn out sticks.
I do have a couple small complaints though. The range of motion is a little more limited than the original (just physically, not in-game). Also, I can't seem to do the instant (full circle motion) spin attack in Zelda anymore (I can still pull it off, but not without several failed attempts).
Also, installing it was kind of a pain because the plug to the circuit board was really tight. I think I may have bent something trying to force it in. Thankfully, I didn't do any lasting damage as the controller works just fine. I may file down the plastic in future installs.
Again, those are minor gripes. I'm actually very happy with it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I was so glad when the replacement thumbsticks came out. I was able to get rid of a ton of old controllers I had sitting around with bad sticks. I also had an Hori controller for a little while. I personally preferred the original but my wife and son LOVED it because it fit their smaller hands so well. I have tried many third party controllers over the years and while they were good in a pinch, long term I always made sure I had an original controller around.

Anyone else hear that too? Or know it?nightrnr wrote:...However, I've heard that you need to re-lube them every month or so (which is way to much maintenance for me). Is there any truth to that?...
