Dumbest things you've ever done? (video game related)

I'm very organized with my collection but for the life of me cannot find original cases and instructions to my PS1 games. I took the discs and put them in a holder (traveling to college back and forth) but cannot find the other pieces, even combing through tons of CD cases years later. Included in there was an original black label Symphony of the Night. I still have the disc to remind me of that loss.

Lost my Final Fantasy VII Versus strategy guide pretty much the same way. The strange thing is that I have the poster it came with and all my other guides. No clue where that thing went.

I was extremely distraught went I discovered it was missing. Used copies were selling for $90 or more on eBay at the time. I ended up buying a really banged up copy for $15, taking it apart, and putting it in a 3 ring binder with plastic page sleeves.

1. When I started collecting retro games about a year and a half ago, I bought a Nintendo 64 (first one I've ever owned). I knew I would need a RAM expansion pak to run Majora's Mask and Donkey Kong 64, which I also bought. I peeked in the front slot, saw the jumper pak, and thought that was the RAM expansion (I figured brand new N64s came with an empty slot). So imagine my surprise when the games didn't work. I must have removed/cleaned/adjusted that jumper pak about ten times and then concluded my "expansion pak" was busted. Finally realized my error when I did some research online.

I did the same thing, only longer ago. It was easily fixed with a 10 dollar bill and a trip to the game store.

From the time I was 8 until I was 11, I was in the habit of throwing away the boxes to my PC games, opting to keep the CDs in a CD book.

I feel ya. I bought a Japanese 3DS at launch, and spent a small fortune thanks to additional import fees and next day shipping. I was really hyped up for glasses-free 3D.

speaking of which, I'm surprised you of all people have one. Isn't the 3DS TOS like super awful? Like they have rights to pictures you take with your camera or some shit like that?

I have done so many stupid things when it comes to my games.

My Saturn 4 in 1 cart died at about the same time as my modded Playstation. I had a pretty solid collection of Japanese imports at the time. I wasn't gaming as much and had moved on to other hobbies. I gave away my entire import collection, both Playstation and Saturn games. Many of the games I owned are not worth much today, but it was a horribly stupid decision.

When I think about it today, I am thankful that it wasn't worse. It was by dumb luck that I decided to put my Saturn back in its retail box and store it in my closet and hang on to my domestic collection.

Oh yeah. I remember hearing something about that. Honestly, I don't give a shit about the camera. I bought the 3DS to play games. I'm more upset at all of the hardware problems the 3DS has.

At least when you buy a 3DS game, you actually own it. That means a lot to me.
