lesson learned

Post by korn16ftl3 »

so the other day i bought a pokemon gold game boy game from a thrift shop, it did not save my game (one of the first things i check on a game save cart) so i knew right then and there that the internal battery was dead (duh), so i figure ok no biggie lets buy some 2032 button batteries from the store and solder the leads on them.......well to make a long story short they came in a pack of 2 an i blew both of them up while sodering them (i know another duh right  ) but ya fopr ANY ONE that is thinking of doing this FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT.

the first battery didnt harm me at all what so ever but the second one.... did as soon as i add'd water to the debrie on my skin it instantly started burning so as soon as i fel that i knew (common chemistry here) that i need'd more of a base to neutralize the acid from the battery, in my case it was corn starch (no baking soda/powder in the hows at least on demand) any way word to the wie IF (and your crazy if you do) you attempt to do this make absoloutly sure you are well covered as well as wearing a face sheild as i now have all kind of little marks all over me from not doing so

ya ya yall gonna laugh at me i know but im just stating DONT DO IT or IF YOU DO BE READY because this is not pleasent at all

I have a couple of carts that most likely have dead batteries. I won't solder because I know I'll eff it up hard. If I ever do replace these batteries, I'll probably send them out somewhere to have the work done.
:D :) :( :o  :? 8) :x :P

Whenever I'm reading some kind of tutorial and see that it involves soldering, this is exactly what I say.

I told my dad I was going to try soldering and he asked if I had a facemask. He thought soldering = welding.

my bad.... wasn't intended to be anything offensive :/

on a side note....why does every one seem to avoid soldering...its not the end of the world or any thing like that grab a hand full of PCB boards with different sized solder joints that are dead and have at it....cant make an omelet without breaking a few eggs after all
