:(

not sure if it helps, but I believe a PSP conversion may have been done? Perhaps the work of converting to PAK was already done in that instance?
He said he couldn't get the game to boot in PAK form, but he did in all data files. He said since its not in a PAK the Dreamcast boots and plays the game, but it locks up when the DC runs out of memory.

I am beta testing a PSP version he just created, so if he updates me on the status later today I'll let you know how a Dreamcast version is looking out ok bro?

Thanks for the advice! Here is what I've ended up mapping for my fight stick using you advice on using inputs+heavy attack for magic. Luckily I've got 8 buttons to work with so I can almost do it all :

weak attack, Medium attack, heavy attack, far shift
guard, back dash, command, close shift

That layout looks good, too. I'm just so used to the Saturn version's default layout that I stick with something similar.

I definitely want a layout like yours, gradualmeltdown, on my Hori EX-SE (which has enough buttons for it). But their control setup doesn't seem to let you skip around or quit the setup prematurely (it won't save if you hit the start button to close all windows). Since I only have the 8 buttons to work with and can't access the clicks of LS and RS, that means I inevitably have to replace something (the generic "shift" being last) if I'm setting the controls with the Hori EX-SE. :|

360 seems like a pain in the ass to do controller swapping, too, making it difficult to use one controller to program my controls and then swap to the Hori EX-SE. But I guess it should be possible, I'll try it later tonight. I hope I'm missing something with their menus, does anyone know if there's any way to bind certain buttons instead of going through all of them in sequence each time? If there isn't, then a patch for that would be nice.

I did end up playing with a 6 button layout (more or less, I had the "command" button as a 7th in the corner) where I used the generic plane shift like wip3outguy7 suggested. I think that works out fine, having the up/down plane shift might be overkill.

That gripe aside, Remix Mode is awesome!

Mugen, when going through the button config, hit a random button that you haven't assigned yet a couple of times to cycle through the functions you don't want to use. When you get back to a function you want, hit the appropriate button and keep going. This way you don't have to worry about the game auto assigning undesired functions to a button.

That was kind of difficult to word. Does it make sense?

Yup. And that's basically what I was doing, but unless I'm remembering wrong, the generic plane shift (I.E. not up or down) is the last button you assign so you can't avoid it (if you don't have access to a 9th button, at least). And quitting prematurely doesn't seem to save the controls. :( But the generic plane shift works alright so it's not that big of a deal, I just wish their control menu was better designed.

Yeah... Kind of. I don't have access to a 360 so I can't really explain it without looking at the layout.

This song is stuck in my head. :P I need to get home and play more co-op. I wish there was a 4P mode that wasn't versus (which is still fun but it'd be awesome to work as a large team).

I had forgotten how great this game really is. So much depth in both Story and Arcade modes. I've been playing arcade mode with lots of characters but in the end Randy is just too fun. The leaderboards make Arcade even more fun. With Randy I have the 8th best score!

This game with a Madcatz TE stick is just the best!
