How the hell do you people sleep at night?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

And hey, emulation (at least in the capacity that most of us do it) is illegal, too, so...

Whatever.... well I personally don't support drug use.
I'll leave it at that.

Weed: I've never tried the stuff all my life, despite being surrounded by it. I've really been thinking I chose the wrong path, but I still cant afford a new addiction. Also, I don't need to give the family any new reasons to hate me.

Sex: It's extremely difficult for me to even make a female friend, let alone one to have sex with. (Never happened.) Besides, it's not blue balls keeping me awake. I never got the horny monkey urges all my friends had growing up. I can't tolerate women, and they can't tolerate me. If I ever meet one who's an exception, perhaps I'll discover those mysterious urges. In the mean time, I can say porn never makes a difference. Anyway, I doubt it's sex that works; it's the company. Don't pretend you're a big tough man who can't admit you want someone there at night. We all do.

Exercise: Well I don't do it voluntarily, but I can tell you when I've worked full days of general labor jobs, it didn't help me in the slightest. It just made me painfully tired, and I was still up all night.

TV/Music: I use the sleep timers, yeah. It doesn't make a difference. It may even make things worse. I just get caught up in whatever's playing and then when it shuts off, I'll just be laying in the dark for a couple hours until "GOD DAMMIT!" and I throw a tantrum of sorts under the sheets. And then I actually tend to get the sleep soon after, lol.

Bedroom issue: Well all I have is my one room for all my shit, so there's no changing that. I live in here. It's all I got at the moment.

Medication: I'm pretty much fearful all all kinds. I rarely resort to the stuff unless I'm really sick. I don't believe in any of the syndromes advertised on TV. I don't want to be hooked on anything.

Weed isn't addictive. Well not physically at least. You can get mentally addicted to anything so the only thing you might get addicted to is the feeling which you won't really be getting since you would just be sleeping. I was thinking I was addicted since I recently stopped for a bit but realized the not being able to sleep thing was just the problem I had before. It won't solve your problem but it will control it.

I had terrible insomnia for about 10 years. Didn't help working as a DJ in clubs for about 7 of those years but anyhoo... regular exercise + getting up at the same time (7:30 for me) everyday (even weekends) ... (well most weekends ;)) has nailed in on the head. Took about 12 weeks for the habit to kick in. Sometimes it comes back a little, that whole laying in bed, trying to sleep feeling but I just close my eyes and start playing thru Megaman 2 in my head. If you start to visualise abstract concepts (the whole 'counting sheep' thing) it shifts you mind into a different gear. Try it next time, close your eyes and play thru a level of a NES game in your head, imagine the pixels, the sprites jumping around, the colour of the blocks, the .....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Have you tried having someone hit you in the back of the head with a brick?

The schedule thing can screw you up, by the way. I started doing that about a decade ago...and now I literally sleep in shifts of six hours. If I need more, I will sleep for exactly one hour afterwards. If I shoot for a target time less than six hours, I'll wake up then unless I'm sleeping somewhere uncomfortable or really tired.

Really sucks being awake by 6:30 am everyday, including weekends. I've gotten used to seeing the sun rise.

If I can't sleep, I just take a Benadryl. It's non-addictive and works better than stuff like Tylenol PM or regular sleeping pills.

So yeah, take a Benadryl and think about EVE Online. That'll put anyone to sleep.
