Chaingunners are probably who I hate the most, Arch-vile's aside, heh.
I just hate when some mappers get too excited with the chaingunners, set them up in super tall unreachable towers or something. Plutonia has so many chaingunners it's nuts.

That's why I'm never beating Final Doom, it's too cheap.Xeogred wrote:Chaingunners are probably who I hate the most, Arch-vile's aside, heh.

Cheap doom game? IDKFA + IDDQD = epic win.KillerJuan77 wrote:That's why I'm never beating Final Doom, it's too cheap.Xeogred wrote:Chaingunners are probably who I hate the most, Arch-vile's aside, heh.

I don't like using cheats, therefore the game is deemed unplayable due to it's insane difficulty. And yes, that level is insane.Damm64 wrote:Cheap doom game? Been playing Yoshi's Island, this game could've been so much more - if only there were less focus on collecting everything, shorter levels and MORE music. My god, some of the tunes were catchy, but with only 3 or 4 songs that are used for the entire game - they get old FAST. I was really peeved by this, for someone like Koji Kondo, you'd think he'd have a larger arsenal of tunes for a first party Nintendo title. The annoying part about collecting flowers, red coins and stars is that there aren't many checkpoints, if you die, you lose all your collectables. Also, if you get hit once towards the end of the stage, you can't replenish your stars to 30 - making the entire struggle for a 100 score pointless. I've always found that to be a major annoyance.
On another note, does anyone else get turned off by Symphony of the Night after finishing the first castle? For the same reason listed above, the inverted castle has like two or three songs and at least two of them are annoying. Really turns me off from playing the game further, I don't see why Konami couldn't use the same music from the regular castle. Not to mention it's just not fun exploring the same castle again, even with the new enemies; I just see it as a lazy, uninspired way to double the game's length. My contention has always been that SotN is half amazing--the streamlined design of the first castle is very fun to play while the latter makes everything open-ended and, well, boring. I don't think Konami took enough steps to make the inverted castle a new experience

I lost interest in SOTN long before the end of the first castle, even though I powered through to finish it. I think the game is overrated, personally.
