Sega Saturn Modchip Help

Post by ReddMcKnight »

Hi all. I recently purchased a Saturn Modchip from Console Goods UK, commonly called the Robb Webb Chip. Well, I got it installed, and the disc spins, but everything, including original Saturn Games, boot as Music CDs. Any idea what the problem could be? I don't think I installed it wrong.

hi Redd , ive installed 4 of Robb's Saturn Modchips with success. Check the install guide on his site to make sure you've installed it correctly.

OK, so I FINALLY got it to work (Shock!), but after about an hour, it stopped working. It just gives me the "Checking Disc Format" Message, and when it did work, games seemed to lag, like Sonic Jam. Is this a sign of a bad chip, or did I just not solder the power wire correctly?

I had the same issues, but it was more because of my soldering than the chip itself. The disc would stop reading (both retail and copies), motor not spinning, etc. I made the decision to desolder and do a neater job, and to my relief it corrected all my problems.
