I spent $10 on a small bag of popcorn today. I could have bought 18 boxes of Cracker Jack for the same price, but the cub scouts were selling it and being a former Eagle scout I was alright with making a "donation".
What was good to see and hear is that before I made the purchase I asked the two scouts if they knew the scouts motto and oath, and they knew and recited both of them.

are the boy scouts/cub scouts still excluding gays and getting government money?
yeah....they aren't ever going to willingly get a cent from me...

Ah yes, the scouts. I remember those days. Troop 999.
Specifically, I remember the popcorn being a real tough sell for most people, especially at those prices. So tough to compete with the girl scouts selling those awesome cookies for a much better price.
On the other hand, I also remember the Pine Car Derby, and that was just plain fun. Even if there were a lot of kids who clearly didn't make their own cars.

I wasn't aware of this, especially with all of the old cracks about "fiddly" scoutmasters.dsheinem wrote:are the boy scouts/cub scouts still excluding gays and getting government money?

I doubt any cub scout even knows about sexual preferences. SPOILER ALERT:
The kids believe that kool-aid is Bobcat Blood for crying out loud. The scouts just stress discipline, and accept kids of all walks of life. Besides obvious exceptions, I think the scouts are great for kids.

I have my two pine car derby cars in my office

I am more concerned about the exclusion of gay leaders and gay Boy Scouts (I've not heard of a gay Cub Scout). I seriously have zero respect for the scouts, and don't really understand how people who support equality can support them. I am pissed off that my tax money goes to them as is...Luke wrote:dsheinem wrote:are the boy scouts/cub scouts still excluding gays and getting government money?
