Isn't the content on the disc? So you enter the code and it unlocks. You don't even have to bring their servers into the equationvlame wrote:even if i buy the game new in 10 years or later, you really think EA will still care about this old ass code still being useful?
It's like using a cheat code to unlock features in game

on-disc dlc is a bullshit practice no matter how you try and frame it

Normally, I'd agree, but not if it only applies to used games. You bought it used and want Catwoman, then download the code. She's been a big part of their ad campaign, but nobody makes ad campaigns for people who aren't going to support the product when it comes out and instead wait to buy it used. Call me a corporate stooge if you want, but I'm siding with them on this oneAppleQueso wrote:on-disc dlc is a bullshit practice no matter how you try and frame it
I'm sorry, but I don't see what so evil about this whole thing. Companies always try to hook in people who like to buy a product when it first releases. Collector's editions, pre-order bonuses, bonus tracks on music cds, etc.

Doesn't work like that. Try and enter those codes while offline, it won't work.Gamerforlife wrote:Isn't the content on the disc? So you enter the code and it unlocks. Yet again, this forum disappoints me, why you don't give a shit about these companies walking all over us is beyond me. It's people like you that are causing this shit to happen because they know they can get away with it. The only way to fight is to vote with our wallets. You guys just seem so ready to bend over backwards to let them fuck you. Nice work...

Because the industry is already too far gone and I don't give a shit anymore. There are already enough games out there to last me a lifetime.Niode wrote:why you don't give a shit about these companies walking all over us is beyond me.

But that means you're not buying new games funding these companies' practices.brunoafh wrote:Because the industry is already too far gone and I don't give a shit anymore. Actually, the Catwoman content isn't on the disc. It's a 250MB download, not a 4KB key.

Believe it or not, most of us don't see a company trying to make a few extra bucks off of us as "fucking us in the ass." It is just video games, and I find the over the top rhetoric about DLC and preorder codes to be not just silly, but exactly the kind of bullshit that gives gamers a bad name. I am sick of an entire generation that feels entitled to everything for little or no money or effort.Niode wrote:
