My definition of "Retro Zelda" includes dungeons from:
The Legend of Zelda
The Adventure of Link
A Link to the Past
Link's Awakening
Ocarina of Time
Oracle of Ages
Oracle of Seasons
Majora's Mask
My personal favorite is Turtle Rock from ALTTP. It's really different from the traditional dungeon and requires a lot of thought before picking a path. And who doesn't love the fight with Trinexx!

Good answer! I'm going to have to think about this for while before I answer, but I do initially like yours.
I'd have to say the Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time. The atmosphere is great with the dark, semi-creepy look and that wonderful music. I liked the twisting corridors a lot as well, definitely the most memorable level fore me.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but I remember there was one in the first Zelda's second quest I always really looked forward to. I can't remember which letter it was for the life of me though.
I also have a most hated one. The tower in Link's Awakening where you have to knock down pillars with a ball. That dungeon pissed me off like no other when I was a kid.

Wow, that's actually one of my favorites. It was really hard the first time through, but felt unique compared to other Zelda Dungeons. Once you beat it you feel like you really earned it.
Also the mini-boss and main boss (which were one-in-the-same) were really fun.
The Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time, the final dungeon in Majora's Mask (that begins with four kids running in a wide field around tree...), and Tail Cave in Link's Awakening.
... couldn't pick just one. I really like the Shadow Temple in Ocarina, too...

If I went back and played it through again, I doubt the tower would be frustrating, but something confused me when I was a kid and spent like five hours wandering around that dungeon not knowing what to do because I was passing over something obvious. That being said, Link's Awakening is actually my favorite Zelda game.
