Re: question about a chipped GC
Nope, it'll boot all regions just fine.
Re: question about a chipped GC
If no Mod Chip
You need to throw in a mod with a toggle switch to tell the Gamecube what region to boot. There is an Import Loader by Code Junkies that also works, on the latest Action Replay. Have a separate memory card per region, a chance different region saves might get wiped.

Re: question about a chipped GC
thats what i thought i know the whole purpose of a chip is to load back-ups imports and home brew hastle free i was just unsure if all those applied in the case of a game cube.....does a saturn that is chipped need a region mod to play other region games than?
(i sware i read some place that it did just not sure tho)
what game cube chip is recommended i have noticed that there are 2 main types of chips, a drive chip and a motherboard based chip (qoob and such) but what one gives me THE MOST control over my cube?

Yes, Saturns requires the region mod or region patching which can be done via the Action Replay Cart.korn16ftl3 wrote:thats what i thought i know the whole purpose of a chip is to load back-ups imports and home brew hastle free i was just unsure if all those applied in the case of a game cube.....does a saturn that is chipped need a region mod to play other region games than?

The cheapest chip is the XenoGC which is a drive chip. You get more functionality with the Qoob or Viper Extreme.
If you are looking for the latter, check the forums over at gc-forever.com as I seem to recall someone selling them.

ok so reading here:

then shortly after the reviewer go's on to say the following:installing the 1.3a bios, the backups loaded right up.
i have noted that according to wikki here:Another area you wouldn’t expect to see, but yes, it’s here. Of the games I’ve tested so far, both Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings And The Lost Ocean and Star Fox Assault have some sound errors. It’s nothing major, it’s only when the characters speak. I’m not sure if I would describe it as a small echoing noise or if it sounds like they are speaking to your through a walky-talky. It doesn’t really bug me though. Others on the internet have noticed some sound problems too so it’s not just me.

i was wondering if any one running the latest back-up loadable BIOS and had any of the above mentioned sound issues?Qoob BIOS 1.3c Final

I don't have those games (originals or backups) so I can't comment. I don't recall the Gamecube having great talking sounds. I mean, playing Super Mario Sunshine, I can't understand a word they're saying in the beginning using original media. I contrast this with Half Life 2 which the voices are crystal clear.
Re: question about a chipped GC
My Cube has the Qoob Pro. I haven't noticed any sound issues, but I haven't played those games. I will try and remember to try it this weekend.
I don't know if you'll be able to find a Qoob Pro though, I could only find one vendor when I bought mine, all I've seen have been Xeno GCs since.

They're getting harder to find which is why I suggested emu_kidid's forum gc-forever.com but you can still find Qoob at Eurasia http://www.eurasia.nu/shop/product_info ... cts_id=283Hatta wrote: I don't know if you'll be able to find a Qoob Pro though, I could only find one vendor when I bought mine, all I've seen have been Xeno GCs since.
