I voted for the PS2 controller.

The Gamecube controller is a nice controller...for games designed around it, it's pretty great. Where it fails is adapting to more cross-platform games or genres. Terrible for fighters with the wonky button layout and tiny d-pad, for example.

The Dual Shock series, to me, are great all-rounders. The 360 controller is too, other than the shitty d-pad (not that the Dual Shock one is great, but it is better). I find them to be comfortable and the consistent design from the PSX-PS3, as CRTGAMER mention, is a plus in my book.

The Controller S I liked, save for the black/white button placement, as I tend to hit them accidentally.

I do this constantly. Its a compulsion.

Anyway, I voted Gamecube, for all of the reasons that everybody else has already mentioned.

I seriously dislike the PS controllers. Very unpleasant to me, and the new L2 and R2 buttons on the PS3 are simply a disaster. Pushing them feels like somebody smeared jelly inside the controller. Pure mush.

For that generation as a whole though, the Xbox Controller S is fantastic, and as far as I'm concerned its up there with the best controllers ever made. I adore that thing.

The only thing that could've made it better is if they had made the black/white buttons line up better for fighting games (and released their own wireless version). That said, the Logitech one is orgasmic to use.

And to be honest I might even like the PS2 controller more than the SNES one. It's like the next step in evolution basically, better grip with the extended legs or whatever, and more buttons. It's just perfect.

Granted I greatly prefer the 360 when it comes to FPS's, the joysticks being unaligned makes it feel a lot better to me, but yeah. That d-pad is ass, lol.

Gamecube. I can't stand PS controllers of any kind, they are all too boxy, I hate the sticks and placement (WTF aren't they staggered?), and the triggers are so crap, especially on the PS3.

Oh, and Wavebird FTW.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

I chose the gamecube controller also. But i would have chosen any controller instead thats not to say i dislike the gamecube one but rather the ps2 controller has never felt natural to me.

I never really feel at home when a game asks me to press r2 or l2 i get confused as to where they are.

I have no issue with shoulder buttons in general but if there is a lot going on in a game and i need to hit a shoulder button i don't have the time to be confused weather its the upper of lower one.

Then there are the symbols. I've never had any problem with controller's like the snes,dc or the xbox original. Because every button has a distinct color and letter which as it happens is way easier to remember. Vague color and symbols do not register all that well and take much longer to be comfortable.

In the end it all has to with how conscious you are about the controller if you don't have to think about the controller at all during play that's good. If you need to check the controller more than once or twice during play that's bad.

You're the first person I've heard of that has had any trouble remembering where buttons are on the PlayStation remote. I gather you probably don't play a Sony machine much, because, like any controller it takes a while to get the feel for it.

The Dreamcast and Xbox controllers throw me for a loop because they use ABXY and both have them in a completely different button arrangement from the SNES.
