What are your favorite 8-bit NES tunes?

Post by J T »

Some of the old composers managed to do a lot with just a little sound chip. Here are some of my favorites:

Section Z:

Gumshoe:

The Adventures of Bayou Billy

Journey to Silius

Mega Man 2:

Metroid:

Kid Icarus:

Blaster Master

Ninja Gaiden

Castlevania

Battletoads

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Recca

This has obviously been ripped out of the ROM and played with an emulator. It sounds a little harsher than it does coming out of a real NES IMHO, but still pretty cool that is is playing samples on top of being a totally manic game with no slowdown.

I can't access youtube from my work computer so I'll just list my favs for now:

Batman - mostly the Axis Chemical Facotry stages theme but the game as a whole is great as well.

T&C Surf Designs
Contra
The Legend of Zelda
Mega Man 2 - Metal Man's stage mostly
Castlevania
Rush N' Attack
Gremlins 2
TMNT 2: The Arcade Game
Tecmo Bowl
Double Dragon
Ghosts N Goblins
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Mega Man Cut Man stage:

Mega Man Elec Man stage:

Legend of Zelda Dungeon theme:

Legend of Zelda Overworld:

Bubble Bobble theme:

Mega Man 2 Dr. Wily's Castle:

Castlevania's music (especially Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears) have been done to death, so I'll skip those.

I'd like to see some Master System stuff grace this list too.

That's some great stuff. I think they had some remixes of that theme in the 2001 Spyhunter game for the PS2. That was a great game
