That's yet another option since both the official NES and official SNES controllers both use the 4021 control chip and have nearly identical colored wires.

The thing is, I hate modding controllers themselves. Unless absolutely necessary, I want to leave them with their stock connectors so they can still be used on their original systems. Sure, there's all kinds of crazy hacks out there from simple ones like the Retrozone USB modding kits to turn your old controllers into standard USB 2.0 controllers to insane padhacks of the normal Wii Classic Controller to get an NES controller attached to that.

At the end of the day, given the chance I wouldn't re-do the mod I made for my first Mayflash. Using an NES controller (especially a turbo one) makes playing Megaman 9 and 10 so much more enjoyable than any other controller option.

Its so true. I would love to know your opinion on the cable that comes with the adapter now. Even if I have to mod it into the box (which was my idea anyway), well it would be worth it to buy two of them. Wireless Advantage and SNES controllers would be awesome. The best part is that they should be usable on the WiiU

I'll be sure to let you guys know what my thoughts are when I get it in the mail. "mod it into box?" What??

Sorry if you were misinformed, but the NES Advantage does NOT work with the Mayflash adapter.

Wireless NES Advantage/SNES controller...? Well,

Messiah of the Generation NEX produced a pretty awesome wireless NES Advantage Clone, but it can only be used on the Generation NEX Famiclone, or by using a very rare adapter sold by Messiah which you can't find anymore. They also supposedly made an SNES wireless controller, but I haven't ever seen one.

If the WiiU allows for Classic Controller input, that isn't firmware sensitive, then yes, you'll be able to use The Mayflash NES/SNES controller adapter on the WiiU.

Sorry, I guess part of that message did not go through - way to go proxy server. By "Mod it into the box" I meant, if it is possible ofcourse, I plan on modding the 7pin port from the cable into the adapter. Much like how you did it. Because there is no reason for me to have a 9pin Famiclone plug since I will not use famiclone controllers.

That is very bad news, I was informed by others that it worked. But I will trust you word on it more than theirs - since you are far more knowledge able on the technical side of the NES and/or appropriate adapters. Is it because it needs 5volts of power to work instead of the 3ish in the wiimote?

I did not know they made a wireless Advantage clone. I am researching now. That means a Generation NEX, which you recently convinced me not to get, is back on the to buy list.

WiiU is going to use Wiimotes for additional players, so aslong as they dont block out 3rd party controllers, which we all hope they dont, we should be fine. Regardless, like you said, Wiimote is soso for Megaman 9 whereas the NES controller is perfect. I borrowed a RetroUSB NES to GC adapter for a while and liked it alot, but I think I am finally ready to cut the cords. That and new house means new projector.

So you'll want to mod the NES 7 pin connector they are including into the adapter just like mine? I have no idea of the quality of the connector, but sure, with a multimeter you should be able to figure out what pin is what and do the mod. Maybe even end up with something less messy than mine!

I'm not totally sure why the NES Advantage doesn't work, but it's not the only one. The Powerglove doesn't work either, and that's aside from the fact that the Powerglove barely works under the best of circumstances. It has something to do with the third party nature of the Advantage. ASCIIware stuff tends to not work so well on other platforms.

Watch my video review of the NEX before you decide for/against it.

I am still soso on the console, but you sold me on the stick. It looks like a standard arcade stick and button combo (which explains the size) made of MDF. They are probably IL parts, but that just means you can upgrade to Happs over time. Does the top have any texture or is it just smooth?

I am now on the hunt for the Messiah Wireless NES receiver. Partially so I can use it on the Wii...

Beofre you go all gung-ho, I should also mention that the build quality of the stick isn't really spectacular. In fact, mine is currently broken. One of the turbo button potentiometers stopped working and then the entire stick died as well.

I'm planning to fix it through an NES Advatage or MAX padhack which would restore a cord (so I don't have to bother with those damn AAA batteries).

The best thing about the stick is well, the stick. Not really sure who made the joystick they are using, but it really is quite great.
