Game Cube GB player + GBA + GBA RAM cart

Post by korn16ftl3 »

i have a VERY interesting idea here and am DEFINITELY in the market for a flash cart for my Game Boy Player Game Cube Attachment, i figured you guys are the nintendo folk so i would ask here.

idea: looking to make my cube as portable as possible no carts and what not to carry around, as im thinking about installing it in my mini van as a portable console. i have a large collection of various Game Boy/Game Boy color/Game Boy advance carts around and would like a simplistic way to play them on the Game Cube Via the Game Boy Player attachment.

i have been googeling for literally DAYS now trying to figure out the best way to minimize the chances of loosing my GB carts in transit (i dont have may GC games prety much got the GC + GB player to play my games on a TV) i have came across a couple different options one of them being the SuperCard Mini SD Cartridge as well as a Nintendo DS M3 Perfect Adapter.

my question even tho these carts are made for a DS they still fit in a GBA slot and thus should function as a GBA cart how ever i am sure you guys know more about this than I do i have never bought a flash cart before and am completely unclear, especially with GBA being backwards compatible with GB and GBC and like wise with a standard DS (it plays GB/GBC/GBA games)

so the real questions are as follows:

will a DS Flash cart that fits in the GBA slot function how i want it to?

if not what is a flash cart to look into price is not much of an issue im looking for SDHC compatibility and a cart that has removable media (i dont want to be limited to a 1GB card and a special cord to flash it with or a 2GB SD card for that matter )

i was initially thinking in the direction of this product here
http://www.modchipstore.com/NDS-Nintend ... 16333.html
as i have herd good things about M3

on a side note.... has any one actually tried putting there GBA flash cart into a Game Cube Game Boy Player or am i just completely insane here?

P.S.

Yes, the M3 Perfect is the best card on the market for the GBA but it's also the most expensive. I have one and yes, it will work in the GB Player. I didn't think they were selling them anymore but it looks like modchipstore.com found some more stock.

kool ill have to get on ordering that i was doing some reading on a few other sites and i just cant seem to find them any where accept modchipstore sadly because that price is huge but if its what i gotta pay to accomplish what im after i suppose it will be worth it

is modchip store a reliable shop to order from, any feed back about them from users here?

i have also herd i should think about getting an adapter to use a diffrent controller with the GB player (and i kind of see why things like the D-pad seem a lot less responsive than they should be) any feed back on this from any one here on this proprsal?

It's a more expensive cart because it has the real time clock and a larger SRAM. Other cards lack the RTC or have a smaller SRAM. $70 is a fair price. I've seen it go for higher amount. For a controller, you can get the Hori digital controller which tends to go for around $40-$50.

I have one of the GBA carts you're talking about. I think I can give you a better idea of them (even though I don't have a gameboy player to test it out).

SuperCard Mini SD Cartridge
Very good cart that I use mostly on my Micro. Can play most game fine but they will be few games that have some slowdown (they is a list somewhere on the internet you can check). Emulation (aka: nes, gb, sms emulation) in this cart is fine with some minor graphics issue. You will need a special program to do those. Unfortunately, the maximum size you can get from this cart is 2gb. I think it's the program in the Cart which have a limit for that size. If you can't find a real Mini SD card, you can get a mini SD card adapter and put a micro SD in it. Even with this, it have to be 2GB. To me, 2GB is enough for me as most GBA games isn't big (unless you're talking about those 16 or 32mb one). The program for this is fine but you need to check carefully as you need to modify some games to get the safe system in the GBA game working.

If you have some question for the SuperCard Mini SD, just post it here as I use mine for more than 4 years now.
