It's like he took the idea of the same family, but made two completely different sub-genres of films out of their story.
You guys are going to kill me: I haven't seen House Of 1000 Corpses . I'll try to watch it soon.
And BTW, did you like High Tension? I liked it but the ending is so over the top that it nearly killed the film for me.
the first Scream is one of my comfort movies -- meaning I can fall asleep to it. If I'm sick on the couch with a fever, I wanna watch Scream. It's soothing to me, because I know it so well. I discovered it after it's theatrical run, and then fell in love with it on VHS. I was there opening night for Scream 2. It just amazed me. And to this day I contend that it's a ridiculously great film. As a hardcore fan of the slasher, I can only commend Craven's work for revitalizing the slasher genre (and inviting numerous imitators both good and bad) as well as kick-starting a trend toward more visceral mainstream horror once again after a blood-drought in the early 90's that leaned more toward EC Comics style silly horror. Just a totally essential film. Not enough good things for me to say about it.
I thought The Troll Hunter was a mockumentary? Maybe I'm thinking of a different Troll movie.
Anyways, I'm thinking of busting out horror VHS tapes after looking through this thread. Maybe do a Nightmare on Elm Street marathon, although I seem to be missing Freddy's Dead for some reason.

oh man I LOVE Freddy's Dead. So awesome haha. It gets a ton of hate, but totally one of my favorites of the series.
