Keep your legal rights when you buy video games

If you haven't heard the news, companies including (but not limited to) AT&T, Sony and Electronic Arts have begun to include clauses in their End User License Agreements that state that you will not pursue legal action against them. When AT&T was taken to the supreme court over this issue, the court ruled in AT&T's favor, which has set a new precedent. You're going to have to look for this in your EULAs from now on.

Generally, you can opt out by mailing a letter, which is a pain, but some people have created an online automated system for you. Details here:

Without precedent and with the history of EU vs corporations, I wouldn't be worried. I don't know about Australia though.

Wow, I thought it was just Sony and EA. What a load of bullshit. Even if I had no reason to sue them. This is crazy. You're telling me that the a court ruled in the favor of the EULA? If I had known they would favor the company's I'd have taken Izzy's stance.

I don't ever bother connecting to PSN save for a rare occasion so I haven't even signed the new ToS anyway.

I'll have to keep this site in mind though if/when I do.
