Is the 3DO worth getting/opinions of console.
Re: Is the 3DO worth getting/opinions of console.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

There is definitely some Penthouse games/software on it, although I have never tried them (I swear, I saw them in a retro game shop... honest!).TEKTORO wrote:Weren't there a bunch of Adult/Erotica FMV stuff for the 3DO?If so go for it should bring you back to the jr high days when you had to switch between stations to get 3 seconds of blocked Spice channels. You could do it I swear

Well I decided to take the plunge on got a Panasonic FZ-1 3DO. I was wondering though. I noticed that when it shows the boot screen with the asteroids flying by that there is no sound for that part. The games have sound and everything but not the boot screen. Is this normal?

Thats the thing. You're impressed at first but the console's long term appeal just isn't there.ATARI800XLfan wrote:Actually I am very impressed with it right now.stickem wrote:^^ be prepared to be dissapoint.lol

I've ALWAYS enjoyed the 3DO. I rented one numerous times from 1993-1996, or so, and enjoyed it. I eventually got one around that time. It's not one of my main to-go systems, but I do fire it on from time to time and enjoy it each time. You can't go in expecting a PS1 or a Saturn. You go in expecting a 3DO. I love monkeying around with it. For me, it's a cool system. My mind totally goes back to 1993-1995 and I imagine I was a rich kid with the newest console with the best graphics.ATARI800XLfan wrote:Actually I am very impressed with it right now.stickem wrote:^^ be prepared to be dissapoint.lol

i hear you. it just wasn't for me. i don't like the fmv games, don't enjoy the poor doom "clones", gex i'd rather play on my saturn, load times for the 2 decent fighters with poor controllers. i really didn't enjoy anything, and usually i can find a few games to like on a failed system. it's just a nolvelty in the closet.

I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't own one if I had lots of spare funds though. It's just I can get the 3DO experience by playing PC games from around that time, many of which have shareware or free versions.

Since we are talking about consoles that did not sell well, what do you guys think of the Amiga CD32?
