Faded SNES Cart

Hi guys, do any of you know if it's usual for a snes cart to have a washed out label?

I picked up Starwing (PAL version of Star Fox) and noticed that the colours on the label were all washed out. Here's a picture:


Could it have been exposed too long to sunlight? It looks like it came out of a printer that's almost out of ink. The cart itself works perfectly.

Searching online shows me that it should look like this:

It probably sat in the sun too long, like in a store window. There's nothing that can be done to reverse sun bleaching as far as I know.

Very very common to see that on SFC carts, not as common on PAL/NTSC-U carts. Obviously you can swap out a back, but a faded label is a done deal. You can have a new label printed, some folks frown upon that, some don't.

Definitey an ex-rental that was in a clear case by the window for several years. Red and yellow are the first colors to sun fade on cheap printing. One of the SNES boxes I have is like that too, pretty much blue on the front from sitting in a rental store near the window.

Unless you don't mind the faded label, I would just print a new one.

Read Ziggy's Repro thread. There's quite a long string of posts that go about the best ways of achieving that 'genuine' glossy label look with some decent quality paper. The end results looked very high quality

pjvdg, let me know if you can't find that label on the internet, either one that not good quality or can't find it at all, I can whip up one fairly easily.

As for printing, let me know if you need any tips.

My wife has a Donkey Kong Country cart with similar fading, for what it's worth.
