I believe the USA is still capable of greatness, and realizes it fairly often, though we are prone to horribly bad political and business judgment, so I'll stick with the WTF (even though I've hated the Patriot Act since day one and have been involved with protests to try to prevent this kind of application of it from happening). Basically I'm saying try not to be too cynical about our country, things can get better.

I try to maintain hope and not to be too jaded and cynical about these things because that leads to feeling hopeless and becoming complacent and apathetic. When that happens, they have you exactly where they want you.
