Remember that law that came to pass recently about jailing those who do streams? How most people thought it was something we'd (by we, I mean those who enjoy watching tournament streams of gaming events) never really have to worry about, and that getting worried about it was making mountains out of molehills?
Apparently, this assumption was wrong.
So yeah, you can have your cameras, laptops, and cell phones taken away - apparently indefinitely - for streaming gaming tournaments.
Good times we be livin' in.

I don't think it's passed or even been voted on.
Call your congressmen if you oppose the bill. They actually do listen if enough people complain or all they get are complaints.

My immediate thought was that this was the result of racial profiling (last name is Fontanez, must be a terrorist) and the increased liberties given to Homeland Security since 9/11 (and the liberties taken away from us).
If this is because of some law to criminalize streaming internet videos though extended through the "Patriot" Act, this is somehow even scarier. I doubt that copyright protection would fall under Homeland Security's jurisdiction though, so this is most likely their usual bullshit.

Well, you know his stream wasn't making any deserving (mostly white) people money so you know it really is kind of illegal right. I mean playing competitive street fighter makes people think and learn, build work ethic, and commune with others that think alike. All dangerous activity especially for a group with so many demographics. Anyway he can help boost the economy by buying more gear to be stolen....errr....taken.

So he just uses a laptop with cameras attached to stream. I always thought he used a more elegant system.

What system is more elegant than cameras attached to a laptop?fastbilly1 wrote:So he just uses a laptop with cameras attached to stream. I always thought he used a more elegant system.

I thought it would be something like a passthrough capture card - like the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle.NintendoLegend wrote:What system is more elegant than cameras attached to a laptop?fastbilly1 wrote:So he just uses a laptop with cameras attached to stream. Land of the free, home of the brave. Anyone who thinks either of those have any bearing on reality is quite frankly out of their mind. This is oppression plain and simple.

What a surprise, another act of bullshit.
