360 has some fantastic shooters like Espgaluda II, Otomedius Excellent, and Deathsmiles. Also some great 2D fighters like Blazblue and Guilty Gear.
But yeah the Virtual Console is kinda too big to ignore. Not to mention WiiWare which also has some cool 2D games, even updates like Excitebike World Rally. Also even disc-based games have their retro roots, like Punch Out and Sin & Punishment.
I guess it's not really 'modern' anymore, but a Nintendo DS with a GBA slot would also be nice, as the GBA has a HUGE library of great 2D titles. It just sucks that it's only one player. Retro is more fun with a buddy to go up against, or to fight by your side.
Is the PS3 a liable source of retro-type games?

this, the 360 may have "retro-look-alike" but the games are NOT retro, the Wii is hands down the BEST for retro games.BurningDoom wrote:You'd vote for 360 over the Wii for retro? But the Wii has the Virtual Consoles and the classic controller.ZenErik wrote:Id vote the 360 first for retro including downloads. Then the wii. PS3 is a distant third. very distant.
